Everywhere you look these days, one thing is clear, everyone is using wood pallets for DIY projects! It makes sense. You can up-cycle and get something cool for free… what’s better than that! For those of us who aren’t quite ready to pull out the power saws, here are a few great DIY wooden pallet garden ideas that any of us can do!

Idea 1 – DIY ‘A’ frame vertical garden idea with pallets

We love this first idea. Simply create an ‘A’ frame with 2 wood pallets. Use two scrap pieces (cut equal lengths) of wood (either from another pallet or whatever you have) as ‘braces’ and attach half way down on both ends. Hang you plants with whatever method you choose. This idea makes a gorgeous vertical pallet garden planter.

Idea 2 – Wood pallet garden walkway idea

Use a couple of pallets to create a cool wood walkway in your garden. I love the tutorial at Funky Junk Interiors. One tip I would add… if your pallets are a little anemic when it comes to slats, (by that I mean, they are way far apart!) make sure you pick up a couple of extra pallets that you can steal slats from to nail in between and beef up your walkway.

Idea 3 – DIY Wood pallet garden tool organizer

Yes, you’ve probably seen this all over the internet! But it really is a great wood pallet idea. Create a holder for your garden tools. Pretty self explanatory! Make sure you attach it well to a shed or garage wall with screws.

Idea 4 – Square foot garden with wooden pallet

Create garden beds with wood pallets. This is a great idea if you use the “Square Foot Gardening” method, or growing vegetables in rows. Plant through the openings, and the rest of the pallet will hold in moisture, give your plants some support, and suppress weeds.

Idea 5 – Potting bench storage and display area with wood pallets

Create a potting bench and work area. Several pallets screwed together can create boxes that can be used for potting, a holding area for plants, or even a display area for containers.

Idea 6 – Vertical wooden pallet garden idea

Finally, one of the most popular and cool uses, a vertical garden. I haven’t done this myself, but the web is full of successful ventures with this one. I like the tutorial at DesignSponge. Would love this with herbs, or succulents!
