Brat green might be the unofficial color of summer, but we vote that linen should be the official fabric. This outfit combines both. (And if there’s one thing we’ve learned from Charlie XCX in the past few months, this green shade has looked good on pretty much every skin tone.) While linen is typically associated with more casual wear, it is possible to elevate your favorite summer linen from basic beach to soirée chic to something that works with the heat and still looks good on the streets.
On an average day, you’d probably style this dress with sneakers or sandals. But this summer, we are partying, so we’re showing you how to go from day to rave with two simple additions: white mules and grey-toned stockings. The accessories add an unconventional twist with these Neous pointed-toe mules and light-gray Falke tights that kinda match but don’t completely blend in (as white would).
The Look
This Gap mini is one of the brand’s top-selling pieces this season. It features a flattering slim-fit silhouette that hits above the knee and is made out of a soft linen-blend material. The skinny spaghetti straps and square neckline are easy and versatile — ideal for both day and evening events. And while we’re partial to the green, the dress comes in a variety of colors, including a bright cherry red as well as black and white.
Polish It Off
For earrings, we once again turned to metallic creations by one of our favorite jewelers, Annika Inez. These earrings, resembling long bow ties, make a shiny statement that doesn’t take away from the focus of the dress or the tights. It also adds a touch of frilly femininity to the look. And with the hair styled up in a “I woke up like this” messy bun, the elongated earrings bring a little something to the neck area, rounding out the skinny-strap square neckline of the dress. Pro tip: If you have a bold earring, leave your neck bare and add other light accessories. Choose anything from a tiny silver bangle on the arm or a prominent ring, as we did here with another Inez piece.
Top off the silver accessories with a sleek matching metallic clutch — we love Mansur Gavriel’s popular Cloud clutch as an always reliable option — and you’re set to make your linen look shine.
