Ellen and Portia Have Reportedly Ditched the U.S.

Ellen is really following through on her promise to go “bye-bye.” The former talk-show host and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have reportedly fled the U.S. for rural England, where they already owned a home in the Cotswolds. TMZ reports that the couple was “very disillusioned” with Trump’s reelection and decided to “get the hell out.” You know what they say: When the going gets tough, the rich drop everything and leave.

The Cotswolds are about two hours south of London and something of a celebrity enclave (not dissimilar from the couple’s formerly beloved Montecito). As the Daily Mail pointed out, Ellen and Portia won’t be lacking for a posh social scene. Victoria Beckham has a farmhouse out there (literally Posh), and Kate Moss, Elizabeth Hurley, and Sir Patrick Stewart all have homes in the idyllic countryside. The couple are reportedly so committed to their move that TMZ reports they’re planning to sell their Montecito mansion.

These two aren’t the only prominent Hollywood liberals to cite politics as their reason for getting out of the country. A couple weeks ago, Eva Longoria revealed that she no longer lives in the U.S., saying that the country is “dystopian” (and also that her taxes were too high in California). If one more former network TV star moves abroad, it’ll be a trend. Maybe Kaley Cuoco has Paris on her vision board.
