Donna Kelce is ready for her close-up. Travis and Jason’s mom is going to be in not one but two different Hallmark Christmas movies this year, marking the 71-year-old’s foray into acting.
Her first role will be in a thematically appropriate romance called Hollywood Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story. Per the Hallmark website, the movie (a collaboration with the NFL) follows a woman named Alana whose family is in the running for the team’s Fan of the Year contest. It gets Hallmark-y when she begins to fall for Derrick, the “director of fan engagement,” who’s been tasked with assessing if she really is the fan of the year. Also, they have to go on a hunt to find a missing good-luck hat. A Hallmark movie can be anything. Somewhere in the middle of all of that, Donna plays a woman who operates a barbecue restaurant in Kansas City.
On their podcast New Heights, Travis and Jason discussed their mom’s acting debut. “Got to admit, I have not seen a lot of Hallmark movies,” Jason said, “I’m excited to watch this one.” Me too, Jason! I want to know more about how the hat comes into play.
In the spirit of her split jersey from the 2023 Super Bowl, Donna is not picking sides in her acting career. If she’s going to be in a Kansas City–set Christmas movie in homage to Travis, she’s also going to be in a Philadelphia-set Christmas movie in homage to Jason. That one is called Christmas On Call, and it’s about first responders falling in love on Christmas Day. Donna will be showing off her range by playing a woman who operates a cheesesteak restaurant.
Donna might as well be one of the busiest women in showbiz. In addition to attending Chiefs games, she’s doing Hallmark movies, she’s acting as Travis’s surrogate on red carpets, she’s on the cover of Glamour as a “Mother of the Year,” and she’s popping up on the Today showto do Pillsbury spon and avoid questions about Taylor Swift. What will she do next? The smart money is on a podcast, but don’t count out a daytime-TV show.
