I learned how to play Chess recently. More specifically I learned how to stare at a board and move little men until someone said "Yeah. You're allowed to do that".
You can't beat a good game for killin' time and havin fun. Solitaire, Hide and Seek, Pictionary, Uno, Keep-away, Pin the Bandaid on the Fella.
Think humans are unique to the love of games like keep-away?
Think again.
Today on a special episode of, Will They Eat It? ... The chickens play a rousing game of Keep-away.
Chicken Treats Keep Away Game
Cuddles, Cheez Whiz, Norma and Walnut play keep away.
I realize I'm teaching my chickens incredibly poor manners by encouraging them to play with their food. I do not care. Mind your own business. You'd be completely mortified if I told you what I let them get away with during last week's game of Pictionary.
Marion
ahhh chicken butt! I should film my parents' chickens sometime and see if they play with their food. I doubt it, your chickens seem much more social!
MJ
So many ideas to be entertained! I'll be home with my chickens soon and find out what tricks the official chickens watchers have taught them, thanks for the warm up!
Zoe
I love how their butts wiggle when they run!
I want chickens.
Carole McGinnis
Oh, how fun this game was to watch. They girls are so cute and who knew they didn't like to share. I was just thinking the other day about how we haven't seen a chick flick recently. I love it - thanks for making my morning.
Jake
That vid. is just to funny, my parrot loved it too, who knew he had a sense of humour.
Marie
How do you get anything done with such entertainment in the yard?! Near the end of the video, everytime that one chicken (sorry, I can't tell them apart) came up to you I could hear a voice in my head "But Mom, she took mine. Mom, did you see that? Mom, I didn't get one! Mom!" Thank you for sharing your girls with us.
Nancy Blue Moon
The girls are always fun to watch..a live feed would be great..wait a minute..a live chicken feed..wouldn't that be like watching them eat bugs and worms..lol..anyway it would be fun to check in on them once and a while for a laugh..also..I think it is pretty unanimous..we all want the Fella back for the next "Will They Eat It"..he just adds to the fun of it!!!! PS..If they need any more cherry tomatoes just let me know..I'll send you a bazillion or so..
Dee
My cat sure loves your chickens'videos.
Kelly Beaudoin
You've probably been asked this already, but are you planning to keep your chickens through the winter?
Karen
Hi Kelly - Oh yes, I keep my chickens through the winter. This particular breed (Rhode Island Red cross) actually does better in the cold. The coop is insulated and I have a heat lamp for reallyyyy cold nights. They're fine! ~ karen
Kelly Beaudoin
Awesome! I'll have to keep that breed in mind if the day ever comes that backyard chickens are legal in Ottawa!
Janet
I'm thinkin' there are a few NFL quarterbacks out there that could use your keep-away video as a pre-game instructional aid. I'm not saying I watch a lot of football...mostly because I can't stand watching the QBs get nailed while they are standing around looking for someone to throw the ball to. I say, RUN WITH IT, STUPID!!!
PS...love your chickens and their videos.
Jodi T.
Karen,
We need a "Meet the Chickens" post... I think you might have done one already, but I can't find it... :)

taria
dang, I wish your chickens were close enough to eat some of my buggy tomatoes!
Lisa
I've always thought chickens were entertaining! For this reason, I have always wanted some. So happy I can get a chicken fix through your videos! ☺

Chickens + Laser Light Pointer = Most Fun Ever!
Tigersmom
I was very disappointed at first not to hear the fella's voice-over at the beginning. I even tried restarting the video a couple of times thinking I had missed it while adjusting the volume. I do understand that this is a different sort of "Will They Eat It" though, and so you are forgiven for your sin of omission.; ) Especially since I can go hear him do it any time I want via the archives.
There is something very uniquely hilarious about watching a chicken move with purpose straight towards the camera. I am baffled at how you get any stuff done when the hilarious chicken show is always on at your house.
Sarah In Illinois
I was amused by that way more than I probably should have been. Maybe I need chickens...
My favorite game is Mexican train dominoes.
julie
I agree....the only thing missing is "WILL THEY EAT IT!?"
Kathy
There is nothing more entertaining than chickens with treats!
Cheers,
Kathy
The Chicken Chick
Karen
Kathy - This is true, LOL. Very, very true. ~ karen
Tris
Woke up really crabby today. Watched your video. Just can't stay bi*chy when looking at fatty thighed and fluffy butt chickens chasing each other for tomatoes. Thanks, Karen!
Debbie
Oh my gosh, I am laughing my pants off!! They looked like kids on Easter morning scrambling (no pun intended!) to collect eggs. I think I could sit here and watch them all day!! Have you thought of doing a live web feed? You know so people can check in on the chickens any time they want!!
Karen
Debbie - I actually have thought of that, but I'm not sure which Internet camera to get. ~ karen
