More Updates to WCBB Data

24th January 2025

A couple of months back we made a huge update to our Women's College Basketball data, extending coverage of D-I all the way back to the first year of NCAA play in 1981-82. The data generally did not include minutes played, games started, offensive/defensive rebounds, turnovers or personal fouls. Additionally, coverage of blocks and steals was very limited from 1981-82 through 1986-87. Read the rest of this entry

Thousands of Notable College Basketball Player Seasons from Early 20th Century Added

13th January 2025

The men's statistical data on College Basketball Reference is generally limited to the era since 1947-48. That was the first season in which schools were required to send final stat sheets to NCAA headquarters so that official national leaderboards could be compiled. Before this, unofficial leaderboards were compiled in yearly record books, but the scans with stats for all teams are generally not as easy to locate. Nonetheless, many of the most important players in the history of college basketball played before 1947-48, so we have made an effort to cover as many of these players as possible. We are proud to announce that we have added data for over 2,500 player seasons (covering over 1,500 players) from 1911-12 through 1947-48 to our database. Read the rest of this entry

Provisional 2024 Approximate Value Now on PFR

10th January 2025

With the 2024 regular season concluded and All-Pro voting released, we're pleased to report that we've added 2024 Approximate Value (AV) numbers to the site for all NFL players. Note that these numbers are considered provisional at the moment, as there may be some slight adjustments based on replacement Pro Bowl selections.

Lamar Jackson leads 2024 players with 21 AV, with Josh Allen and Jayden Daniels just behind at 20. The top non-QBs in AV this season are Penei Sewell, Saquon Barkley, Tristan Wirfs and Zack Baun. You can see all of the top players in this Stathead.com Player Season Finder search.

Not sure what AV is? To learn more about PFR's attempt to put a single number on each player-season since 1960 (for the purposes of comparing players across position and era), check out our About page on the topic at PFR. Feel free to send us feedback via our site's form.
