Kygo (born 1991) is the stage name of Norwegian music producer, musician and acclaimed remixer Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll from Fana, Bergen, Norway.
Gørvell-Dahll started to play the piano at the age of six having various lessons whilst still in school. In his teenage years after discovering electronic music through esteemed artist Avicii, Gørvell-Dahll tried his hand at remixing a number of tacks and released his creations through YouTube and Soundcloud. The Norwegian music producer soon became noted for his seemingly infinite supply of remixes defined by his proclivity for upbeat and positive melodies and sparklingly bright production.
Gørvell-Dahll has released a number of successful remixes including Ed Sheeranâs âI See Fireâ which has a play-count of over 15.8 million on Soundcloud, 40 million plays on YouTube and stayed in Romaniaâs Top 40 for 14 weeks. On top of this he released a remix of âSexual Healingâ which received over 250,000 plays within 10 days and the result of which left Gørvell-Dahll with a swollen fan base that were anticipating more releases from the producer. His remix âNo Diggity Vs. Thrift Shopâ has surpassed the one million mark on YouTube and as of 2014 was asked by Coldplayâs Chris Martin to create a remix of their song âMidnightâ
2014 also saw Gørvell-Dahll warm up for Avicii at Findingd Festival in Oslo, Norway and replace the DJ due to health concerns on the MainStage in TomorrowWorld. Gørvell-Dahll has since signed a huge deal with Sony International and Ultra Records and partnered with the brand Electric Family to produce bracelets from which proceeds go to breast cancer awareness.
Plus d'infoNorwegian record producer and DJ Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll better known by the stage name of Kygo has been criticised for having only been working the circuit for just over two years and he is only 23 years old. However anybody who has seen this musician's live show will be able to quieten critics as Kygo's age simply works in his favour as he is one of the most enthused and energetic electro performers. There is no doubt that following his breakthrough in 2014, Kyrre has been living the dream and he looks completely elated to be stood behind the decks spinning tracks for the crowds.
There is a large amount of fans and onlookers alike gathered to hear this up and coming musician and he demonstrates real ability mixing his popular remix of Coldplay's 'Midnight' into upcoming material from the highly anticipated debut album. He is of course most excited when playing his European hit singles 'Firestone' and 'Stole The Show' which has the whole audience jumping and dancing as one. When you consider the fact Kygo does not have a full length album as of yet, he achieves one hell of a party with his existing material.
8/5 my God. 16/10 A++++++++++++++++++++++++
Only complaint; was 5 hours was too short. My life has peaked, Iâve never felt so in the moment and loving life then at this club and listening to Kygo. Heâs my all-time favourite artist with Avicii. His music is phenomenal and listening to all of his songs, mixed with a bit of sweetish house mafia and a bunch of other Prem songs was off the wall. (Donât stop believing by Journey, wild)
This was definitely the highlight of my life. I really want the chance to experience this again.
Kygo. You are fucking amazing, man. Youâre musics got me through some rough shit in my life, and I wish I could return the Respect.
Iâd rather meet you, then any other person in the world or win the lottery or like have a nice car.
Youâre an inspiration. Keep doing what youâre doing with music. I canât wait to see you live again
5th time we have seen Kygo at Ushuaia since 2016 (first was the day before Aviici performed his last show in Ibiza). The last one we attended was Sunday 12th August 2018, and was by far and away the best one yet.
Frank Walker, The Him and then Lost Frequencies, all worked to build up the atmosphere for when Kygo took the stage at 10pm. We were not disappointed in the slightest and made all the more better because we were privileged to be in the VIP area (on the second row), so the atmosphere coupled with the music and all the lighting effects, just made for a very memorable night.
Sincerely hope Kygo returns next year to Ushuaia because, for sure, we will be there.
And no, I'm not a youngster. I'm in my 60's and simply can't get enough of Kygo's music.
PS. Get Klingande and Bakermat on the same evening as Kygo, as you did in 2016. Then that would simply be the best.
Kygo is a Norwegian producer who has made such a splash in the EDM scene with his extremely distinct style of writing music. One of the biggest moments of his set being his remix of âI See Fireâ by Ed Sheeran which has been played 14.3 million times on Soundcloud and 40 million times on YouTube. His music is that perfect balance of chilled and energetic. He is so big, and successful now that Coldplay front man Chris Martin asked him to create a remix for the Coldplay hit, âMidnightâ. His music has taken him all over the world, with his signature sound. Tonight one of the biggest highlights of his set is when he performs his version of âSexual Healingâ by Marvin Gaye, elevating this audience from an 8 out of 10 to a 12, with everyone singing along, there are hips gyrating and choruses being sang. Such a fantastic set from this EDM artists.
I have been a fan of Kygo since he first started with remixes of songs, and him being from the same town as me made him an instant favorite of mine. The concert was absolutely amazing. The other artists that played before Kygo arrived onstage weren't the best except Labrinth, he was exceptional. But Kygo's performance was astonishing. He brought everything to the table and used every concert trick available (fireworks, flames, smoke, huge balloons etc.) which made the concert even better. Kygo stole the show and our hearts.
Kygo, as amazing as expected! great show, great vibe, great artist!
I have nothing to complain about that!
But the location of the concert was so bad... we had to wait for more than 30 minutes between each artist and when you are at the stand places and it is warm and overcrowded, it is quite awful!
Gasometer needs to be more organised, I don't know if I would go back there next time...
But Kygo.. thank you for the amazing experience!
Absolutely amazing! Me and my boyfriend flew from Fargo, ND to Los Angeles just to see him play at the Greek Theatre. We both enjoy music and going to festivals and concerts but this absolutely took the cake for best concert! We will definitely be seeing Kygo again and it was worth every penny spent. The music, the lights, the crowd, the scenary and even the weather made for an amazing experience we will never forget.
AMAZING! it was my first gig and I went with a friend who goes to about 2-3 concerts a month, he said "thats as good as it gets". See was a nice intro, and then who new that gryfffin could shred. Kygo was amazing, a couple piano/acoustical 100% performances and all kinds of special guests, a good balance between new and old songs, crowd wasn't that hyped though.
I saw him for second time, he is very talented all music is live plus Firestone acoustic version, the production also great a lot of effects was a really good experience he is going on a good way to the top, my opinion, the only think I dislike was the long way to start the show 30 minutes is too much, the rest was great.
The show was awesome. I have not seen such light and sound setup before. We were given wristbands which would light up. there were bouncing balls and fireworks and sky paper :)
The only disappointment I had was with the venue, O2 Brixton is a small venue and it was really crowded with no space to move, let alone dance.
