Vowel diphthongs are sounds formed by combining two vowels in a single syllable. The
sound begins as one vowel sound and moves towards another. The most common
diphthongs in the English language are the letter combinations oy, oi, ou, and ow.

Do you know what these pictures are? Can you
identify them? Can you spell them?
In the English language, there are
words that are read as how they are
spelled. However, some words are tricky.
They do not follow the spelling rules that
you have learned. We call them
irregularly spelled words.
These are words which are difficult to
sound out and difficult to spell when you see
them. When you were younger, you may
have learned these words as sight words or
snap words. Just like sight words, they that do
not follow a spelling rule just like what you
have to learn.
Here are some examples:
It takes practice and more time for you to
memorize them.
Using and reading them in sentences will
help you learn how to read, say and spell
them correctly.
Guided Practice
Let’s try a few items as practice exercise.
Choose the appropriate irregularly spelled word
to complete each sentence.
The correct answer is whole because the
word “whole” is an irregularly spelled word
which means “entire”.
The correct answer is eyes because the
word “eyes” is an irregularly spelled word

“I choose show and tell”, said Ramon. “we have internet at home and my
sister has a cellphone for video recording”. “My mother has a cellphone, but the
camera is not working so I choose radio play. I will do voice recording”, said
Marie. “Oh, no.” Danny said sadly.
“We do not have internet at home”. Ana smiled and
said, “Neither do we but we can make a poster presentation of our favorite
food!”. The children eagerly started working on their activity.

Typhoon Ulysses with the international name


Vamco hardly hit Luzon on November 11-12,
2020 carrying heavy rains that triggered massive
flooding affecting Cagayan Valley, Metro Manila
and nearby provinces.
The typhoon entered the Philippine Area of
