24-05-2021 - Courage Is What Not To Fear

The document discusses the meaning of courage and how to react when afraid. It defines courage as making good choices in the face of fear or obstacles, rather than fearlessness. While everyone experiences fear, one should determine whether it is a "stop fear" that makes us pause or a "go fear" that holds us back. When afraid, one should listen internally and have the discipline to act intentionally despite the fear.

MEANING
Courage involves making good choices in the face of fear or obstacles.
It’s another term for bravery.

Remember: Bravery doesn’t mean fearlessness. It means we do not let

fear hold us back from exploring new opportunities, developing our
skills, and doing what is right.

For a five-year-old, courage might look like starting a new school, trying
a new activity that stretches them, and learning new skills that take
effort.

• We all get afraid, but we should not succumb to those fears...
• Moreover, we should have the clarity of ‘when to be afraid’ and
‘when to have courage’.
• Fear can also be of two types.
• Good fear i.e. the fear that make us “press pause” when we cross
the street or want to climb a tall tree. Whereas, fear that stops us
from trying new things – the fear that holds us back from progress.

HOW TO REACT
WHEN WE ARE AFRAID OF SOMETHING…??

• When we are fearful, we must pause and think to

determine whether is this a “stop fear” or a “go fear.”
• We must listen to the little voice inside each of us when
we feel fear.
• We must also have the courage to be intentional and
discipline in our next steps.
