WHAT IS ETHICS ?
 Moral principles that govern a person's behavior or the conducting
of an activity.
OR
 The branch of knowledge that deals with moral principles.

 For example : An example of ethics is a the code of conduct set

by a business.
ETHICAL DILEMMAS
 An ethical dilemma (ethical paradox or moral dilemma)
is a problem in the decision-making process between two
possible options, neither of which is absolutely
acceptable from an ethical perspective.
 Although we face many ethical and moral problems in
our lives, most of them come with relatively
straightforward solutions.
ETHICS TRAINING

 To avoid ethical dilemmas many organization conduct

ethics training in their organization WEB BASED:

 Around 90% organization using web based training

 to minimize the cost of organization

 to save time

LIMITATIONS:
 no face to face interactions

 no Facilitator guided

 no group activities
WHO TO TRAIN
 In an organization every person have to face ethical dilemmas.
 So every one has to be trained according to their destination.
For example:
 Upper management : (because they have to take ethical decisions )
 Middle management : (they have to implement that decisions )
 Lower management : (work force )
 Security staff :
 New employees : ( to know about organizations ethic code of conduct)
 Long term employees: ( because they will portray the image of organization )
WHO WILL TRAIN
 trustworthy person
 can be from HR department staff person

 Can hire from outside

 Most preferably from inside the organization because he

or she will better know about the ethics code of your
organization
ETHICAL DILEMMA
Lack of attendance
(scenario)
An organization named as GREEN CRESCENT TRUST
.working in Islamabad having policies to give their employees
incentives to maintain their attendance up to 90 %.
Mr Ali came late on consecutive two days.
It is not mentioned in companies policies that their will be
some punishment about coming late at office(e.g fire the
candidate). but he will not receive the perfect attendance
incentive which he need to make ends meet. Giving his
daughters recent series of hospitalization.
Mr Ali is working as JUNIOR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR
with the management information systems department.
CONT….
It is not that Mr. Ali didn’t make an effort to be there on
time. He actually arrived at the office five minutes
earlier but was enable to clock in immediately because
his direct superior Raffay asked him for an informal
project progress report as soon as he walked in the door.
As a junior system administrator Mr. Ali has access the
capability to edit the company's attendance records. He
figures that since he was unable to punch in only because
of his boss it wouldn’t hurt to edit the timestamp on his
attendance for today.
HAS ALI DID ANYTHING WRONG ?
ETHICAL DILEMMA
 there is an ethical dilemma exist
 There were two options in which Ali can behave

A B

MARK MARK PRESENT

PRESENT(LATE) (ON TIME )
BOTH OPTIONS ARE SOMEHOW TRUE
OPTION “A” OPTION “B”

For himself
For himself if he will mark himself present then an
ethical dilemma “ taking unfair
if he will mark absent himself advantage “ exist here.
then it shows that how ethical Butt on other hand it will give him
he is. incentive which will help him to pay
 he will have self satisfaction the bill of hospital for her daughter .
Organization base
organization base
But some how it is an unethical activity
 it also shows the organization
if he mark himself present (on time ) .
ethic code of conduct. It means organization is hiring unethical
 it will also show that the person .
company hire ethical person
TRAINING SESSION ON THIS DILEMMA
ETHICS TRAINING OPTIONS
 In this scenario we are selecting the option “creating
business ethics scenario for discussion “.
 in this option we are come up with upper scenario.

 Discuss with the group

 in end made a ethical decision.

SO ACCORDING TO YOU WHAT IS ETHICAL

DECISION IN THIS SCENARIO?
CONT…..
 Another option can be used as
“ Applying the code to specific situation “.
 in this option trainer provide real life situation and have
participant determined weather the behavior is in
accordance with , or violates the code of conduct.
 consider the upper situation as real life example

SO ACCORING TO YOUR UNDERSTANDING WEATHER THE

BEHAVIOUR IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH OR VOILATE THE
CODE OF CONDUCT ?
ANSWERS
FOR CREATING BUSINESS ETHICS
SCENARIOS FOR DISCUSSION
 so according to us answer is
Ethical decision :
Ali should mark himself present (late ) no matter what was
the hurdle to come office late.
It is ethically more suitable then mark present (on time )
because it will set a bad example to other employees as
well.
FOR APPLYING THE CODE TO SPECIFIC
SITUATION
 so after the brain storming our answer is
 Ali violates the code of conduct of his organization.

 and doing wrong by mark himself present (on time ) .

 Ali’s this behavior is not in accordance with the code of

conduct .
