Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this Learning Episode, you must be able to:
1. Explain the effectiveness of display boards as learning resources;
2. Evaluate bulletin board displays using a set of criteria for quality
3. Apply principles in designing an effective bulletin board display

Clarify Your Task:


Bulletin boards have four general purposes:

1. Decorative- they offer visual stimulation and appeal to the aesthetics. They set the
social and psychological atmosphere of the school.

2. Motivational- they encourage students to perform better and have great confidence

3. Informational- they are a strategy to disseminate information.

4. Instructional- they invite students to respond and participate through interactive


displays.

The set of criteria for evaluating bulletin board display includes effective
communication, attractiveness, balance, unity, interactivity, legibility, correctness and
durability.

Observation Guide for Board Display

1. Visit the school again and look for the school Bulletin board display and examine the
board display.

2. Where are the bulletin board display found, and are they in places where target viewers
can see them?

● In the back of the classroom, near the teachers table. It can be easily seen fue to its
wize and color.

3. What is the display all about, what images and colors do you see, and how are the
pieces of information arranged?

● The displays consists of the output of the learners in which are marked accordingly
based from the performance and effort made by the pupils.

4. What materials were used in making the displays?

● A wood and a rubber puzzle rug.

5. Do you notice some errors?

● None at any point, It was made to accomodate lots of possible displays.

6. Are the messages clear and easily understood?

● Yes, the messages are well written and can be understood easily by the pupils.
