BS CRIMINOLOGY ON-THE-JOB TRAINING MANUAL 2025

SUMMARY /CONCLUSION
My On-the-Job Training (OJT) experience at the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) was a valuable
and transformative journey that allowed me to apply my academic knowledge in a real-world
environment while gaining insight into public service and fire safety operations. Throughout the
training period, I was given the opportunity to observe and assist in various administrative and
field-related tasks that play a crucial role in ensuring public safety and effective emergency
response.
One of the main responsibilities I was involved in included supporting the clerical staff with
documentation, data encoding, and organizing official files and reports. This helped improve my
attention to detail and administrative efficiency. I also had the chance to observe fire safety
inspections and learn about the procedures involved in assessing establishments for compliance
with fire codes. These experiences gave me a better understanding of how important fire
prevention measures are and the responsibility that the BFP carries in enforcing these standards.
Another important aspect of my training was participating in the agency’s community outreach
and information dissemination programs. I was able to assist in fire safety seminars and
educational campaigns, which helped enhance my communication skills and gave me a sense of
purpose in serving the community. Through these activities, I saw firsthand how the BFP
actively promotes fire prevention awareness and preparedness among the public.
Moreover, being surrounded by disciplined and professional personnel allowed me to observe
the values of integrity, dedication, and teamwork. The firefighters and staff were approachable
and eager to share their knowledge, which contributed greatly to my learning and personal
development.
In conclusion, my OJT at the Bureau of Fire Protection was a meaningful experience that not
only equipped me with practical skills and professional exposure but also inspired a deeper
respect for the men and women in public service. The training has helped prepare me for future
career challenges and motivated me to be more involved in community-centered efforts. It was
truly a rewarding opportunity that I will carry with me moving forward.

RECOMMENDATION

BS CRIMINOLOGY ON-THE-JOB TRAINING MANUAL 2025

The On-the-Job Training (OJT) program in the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) provides
students with a valuable opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting. It
fosters a sense of discipline, responsibility, and public service. While the program already offers
meaningful exposure to the daily operations of the BFP, there are several positive
recommendations that can further enhance the training experience for future trainees.
One of the best ways to improve the OJT program is to continue and expand the hands-on
involvement of trainees in field activities. Participating in fire drills, safety inspections, and
emergency simulations gives trainees not only technical knowledge but also confidence in
responding to critical situations. These real-life learning experiences leave a lasting impact and
strengthen their professional readiness.
Another positive step would be to maintain and improve the welcoming and supportive
environment that many BFP personnel already offer. Assigning each trainee a mentor or
supervisor encourages learning and gives trainees a reliable source of guidance and feedback. It
also builds strong working relationships between trainees and BFP officers.
Overall, by continuing to support trainees with guidance, engagement, and recognition, the
Bureau of Fire Protection can further strengthen its OJT program and help shape responsible,
capable, and service-oriented future professionals.
