ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
First and foremost, I want to take this opportunity to show my profound
gratitude to the teachers of English faculty at the HCMC University of
Economics and Finance (UEF) who contributed to helping me accomplish my
professional internship.

I would especially like to express a special word of thankfulness to Mr.

Nguyen Duy Khoi for his unwavering guidance and assistance in helping me
finish this internship report. He is also the one who has helped me come up with
strategies and ideas for this report.

I owe a lot of gratitude to the University of Economics and Finance (UEF)

at HCMC for supplying me the opportunity to take part in an active, international
learning environment where I could acquire understanding as well as what it is
like to be a college student. I have received professional training and education in
school that are necessary for today’s society. The university additionally offers a
student support system, which I find to be extremely helpful whenever I
encounter difficulties throughout my academic career. Because this department
constantly makes sure that every student receives prompt and proper guidance for
both their academic and personal goals.

It is my radiant sentiment to place on record my best regards and deepest

sense of gratitude to Ms. Vu Quynh Nhu, for her thoughtful and invaluable
assistance during my three-month internship at the Easy Education English
center. Her advice was tremendously helpful for my studies both academically
and practically.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Easy Education English

center's management for creating favorable conditions for me not only to learn
but also gain the hands- on experience during the internship at the center.

i
Finally, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the English center’s
professional team members for their support and for setting up an ideal
atmosphere that enabled me to successfully complete this professional internship
program.

I truly believe the professors will understand that even though I performed
my very best all throughout my internship and while I wrote the report, mistakes
were inevitable. At the same time, because my theoretical understanding is still
weak, I would appreciate advice from professors on how to broaden the scope of
my understanding.

ii
SUPERVISOR’S COMMENTS
This is the proof that I, the supervisor of student Trần Nguyễn Kim Mai,
has read and evaluated the internship report. It is with an objective standpoint
that I would like to surmise that the report has been written with care, proper use
of grammar, and a keen attention to detail.

PART 1: INTRODUCTION
These days, unemployment is on increasing levels, especially among
students. They lack abilities that can be utilized and employed in the workplace,
which is the reason. They must thus improve their knowledge, have an upbeat
demeanor, and possess prospective talents in order to compete in this
increasingly competitive world of jobs.

People might enroll in an internship program to learn, develop, and

practice knowledge, a positive personality, and prospective abilities. The process
of learning about work through actual job experiences in relevant sectors
culminates in the development of skill sets and networking for assistance in
future employment. Other than that, an internship can be considered as the main
requirement for completing the educational process. Before graduating, final-year
students must do an internship with a former employer. In other words, the
internship serves as a means of gaining knowledge and developing skills relevant
to the working world, as well as one of the primary prerequisites for students to
earn their degree.

As a final year student, I want to experience an internship program to

discover more about my faculty and have a clear understanding of my future
career. After hearing the information about the program “the Mock-Interview &
Job Fair” at school, I made research on the website of UEF about the vacancies in
my field, and Easy Education English center is one of those. I tried my best to
answer all the questions from the interviewer and finally I was accepted to be an
apprentice at this place. I want to pursue this internship to evaluate my inherent
abilities and potential. Although I have accumulated a solid foundational
knowledge in this domain, I believe that the best way to move forward would be
to get practical working experience in an established platform. I want to study,
advance my abilities, and acquire skills that can shape me as a valued
professional in this industry.

1
Through the internship period, I was designated as a Research &
Development (R&D) employee and my responsibilities are to design documents,
translate the documents into English and vice versa, investigate the available
texts and examine if those are still appropriate or not (in case they are not
suitable anymore, I have to fix and redesign the structures of those documents
that will be used as teaching materials). Besides that, I was also trained on soft
skills such as teamwork, communication, and so on . Making a poster for an
IELTS writing sample as part of my work gave me the opportunity to practice
my computer abilities, so I became more adept at manipulating tone values and
designing tools. Additionally, being able to connect with individuals in my area
during my internship has been the most fruitful experience, and internships are
unquestionably a useful tool for me to widen my professional network. In
particular, I gained more self-assurance when communicating in English. At first,
I was very timid because of my voice, but gradually I had to use English at the
workplace, now I become more at ease when having a conversation in English
with my colleagues. Another crucial factor is how my lifestyle has altered as a
result of my internship time. As a student, I can wear everything I want, or I can
even go to school late, but my professors still don’t get upset. However, once I
get into my working period, I have to take responsibility for my tasks which
means I must go to the office on time, dress professionally, submit the allocated
tasks within the allotted time.

My study paper is divided into three primary sections. The organizational

structure of Easy Education English center is discussed in the first section,
followed by my assignments in the second section, and my internship experience
in the third and final section.

1.2. Organizational structure

Table 2. The organizational structure of Easy Education English center

The Easy Education English center has a total of six departments

including the marketing department, the human resources department, the

4
accounting department, the sales department, the academic department and the
student service department which are under control of the board of directors.
Each department is responsible for its own tasks and obligations.

 The board of directors has responsibilities to supervise and take

responsibility for the company's and its departments, evaluate the
company’s regular business performance through monthly meetings.

 The marketing department has accountabilities for brand building,

organization, and implementation of marketing initiatives for the center,
brand image development and developing marketing strategies and
anticipating market trends to put marketing strategies into practice.

 The human resources department takes responsibility for preparing

monthly reports on personnel changes, monitoring and managing HR
activities, taking charge of drafting, and storing documents and
information about the firm.

 The accounting department is responsible for completing financial and

accounting work in accordance with State regulations, calculating and
then reporting the company's capital, liabilities, revenue, and expenditure.
Moreover, it also holds the duty to prepare financial and business plans by
month, quarter, and year, monitor and supervise the company's annual
income.

 The sales department must pay attention to secure company inputs and
outputs by conducting market research and outreach, launching new
products, and luring and keeping customers coming back. Additionally,
they need to organize the execution of business plans and sell package
goods to clients.

 The academic department is in charge of working with the examining

boards and examiners to coordinate with the department in choosing
specific syllabuses when needed. Throughout the department, they also

5
have to create lively, engaging learning environments with the use of
resources, courses, and wall displays. And furthermore, they also need to
keep up with changes in instructional methods and the effects of new
technologies on the field and present them to the department as necessary.

 The student service department’s duty is to interview applicants, reply to

student needs and inquiries, handle scholarship awards, and organize
student events. And they are also the bridge between center and students
or between center and parents.

1.3. Teaching programs

The center focuses on three curriculums: IELTS, TOEIC and

communicative English. Each syllabus has three different methods which can
meet the students’ demands and conform to their owns targets.

1.3.1. IELTS course

 IELTS Blended method: this method combines modern learning model

Flipped Classroom & Bloom Taxonomy in order to help students to be
proactive and master knowledge before going to class.

 IELTS Live: The IELTS program combines Web-App learning and online
tutoring by teachers via Zoom.

 IELTS Online: individuals with self-study abilities, they can totally learn
IELTS curriculum on web-app system. This method is time autonomy and
flexibility.

1.3.2. TOEIC course

 TOEIC Blended method: this method integrates an innovative learning

model that uses the Flipped Classroom and the Bloom Taxonomy to help
students be more well- prepared for class and more active.

6
 TOEIC Live: The IELTS curriculum combines online instructor teaching
through Zoom with Web-App study.

 TOEIC Online: People who are good at independent learning can

completely master the TOEIC curriculum using a web-app approach. It is
independent and flexible use of time.

 Moreover, students can also take a test online at the center’s website to
evaluate their levels and determine the program they should enroll in.

1.3.3. Communicative English

To thrive in today's globalized society, it is essential for people to

strengthen their communicative English skills. It entails having a solid command
of English language and vocabulary as well as the ability to interact effectively
with people in a range of social contexts. This includes being able to understand
and express ideas clearly, listen actively, and engage in meaningful
conversations. Students in all academic disciplines should be able to
communicate in English in order to partake in cross-cultural conversation and get
involved in international academic and professional settings.

Owing to the reasons stated, the Easy Education English center will
launch the communicative course. Advanced English communication will be for
busy people. The itinerary is individualistic and tracking of learner performance.
Small and 1-on-1 classes will ensure that students will be fully engaged and
closely monitored throughout the learning process. The methods will include
American standard pronunciation, basic communication and tutoring one by one.
Students will register their schedule on the appropriate booking system, having
more than ten academic periods per day, and can study up to six sessions a week.
And those courses will be commenced in February next year with a small class
first, then more classes will be opened to meet the demand of pupils.

7
Chapter 2: Procedures and assigned tasks

2.1. Recruitment process

In order to become a Research & Development (R&D) apprentice,

candidates must go through many stages. Initially, the center took part in a Job
Fair at the university, and this was also the first phase. At that place, applicants
had to take a job interview and the interviewer might ask some questions about
the faculty, their English proficiency, and general information about the position
they were applying for. After having been getting the nod for the job, the
candidates experienced some additional, more particular hurdles. For instance,
they could be required to conduct research and then create a piece of writing that
would be used to instruct pupils at IELTS Level 6.5. And at the third stage, the
intern had to also produce a brief document for both the IELTS exam and the
TOEIC exam so as to demonstrate their level of proficiency in both areas.

I started to work at 09am from Monday to Friday and the internship lasted
for twelve weeks. When I came to the company, I had to check the fingerprint at
the machine which was placed at the front desk first. Then I checked email to
find out what I needed to do that day such as the document I had to prepare, or
some materials that the teachers would use in classes, etc. Next, I worked until
12pm, and I took a break for about an hour and a half. In the afternoon, I
continued what I did not finish and came home at around 05pm.

At Easy Education English center, the working behavior here was

friendly, comfortable, and active. Even though they did not have strict rules to
follow, there were still some disciplines that I forced myself to obey in order to
have a good working style. Firstly, I went to work punctually at all times.
According to my way of thinking, punctuality is always a principle that must be
scrupulously adhered to in every workplace. Following the timeliness concept
will show my professionalism and acquire the trust of colleagues and partners.
Secondly, I always tried my best to complete the tasks on schedule. Because as

8
an R&D intern, I had to read lots of documents; therefore, if I put off the
assignments, I would have to finish them as soon as possible or maybe I would
not be able to finish on time. As a result, I could submit a short, negligent task
and the supervisor would not appreciate my internship as well as my ability. And
finally, I was always willing to receive comments from my supervisor and
colleagues. According to me, it was a good way to improve myself, through their
reviews, I could gain a lot of experiences and also good methods to do better next
time.

2.2. My tasks at the Easy Education English center

While working at the center, I was guided to perform a variety of jobs

consisting of drafting and editing academic documents; assisting teachers with
additional teaching materials; supporting the implementation of the department's
event activities; developing and managing training programs and English
teaching materials; researching market trends, proposing workable solutions for
articles, videos, courses; taking part in trial classes to recruit teachers of the
English program and giving comments on the quality of teachers. At the center, I
worked in shift, and there were two shifts. The first shift was from 8:00 to 12:00
and the second one lasted from 13: 30 to 17:00.

2.2.1. Drafting and editing academic documents

[Link]. Description of the task

As an R&D intern, this was the first task I must go through and spend
most of my time completing this task. In this part, there were many other sorts of
connected works in this section such as adjusting an available text, finding the
document, and then fixing, gathering brief texts from several websites and
compiling them into one file, and so on. To finish the job successfully, I needed
to look up the papers on many pages on the internet; moreover, I also had to read
a lot of books or research to discover the most appropriate text. After finding the
needed document, the next step was checking grammatical or vocabulary
mistakes. Sometimes, documents could include a lot of errors, so I had to double

9
check them. But at the same time, I also had opportunities to enhance my
imagination by considering how I should design the document to make learners
feel more interested in learning, and how to organize the structure in a manner
that made it clearer for the teachers to carry out the best lecture.

[Link]. Difficulties in searching for the documents

In the process of looking for the necessary papers, there were many
barriers. For example, when I searched for the topic of writing IELTS exam task
1 of May 2023, the sample and the topic were not related to each other.
Therefore, the mini practice about vocabulary and grammar in this task were
unconnected too. As a result, the sample was completely irrelevant when students
read the topic after receiving it. Secondly, although e-books were really popular
nowadays, many books could not be found on the internet and my job was
transcribing manually all the long books into a single file. And occasionally,
fortunately, I could locate the document but after downloading, the file was rife
with faults and amending all the errors took a lot of time.

And one more thing, I had to find a suitable picture for the topic. Or on
occasion the issue was not related to the picture that was used to represent it, so I
had to verify carefully several times. If I cannot find an appropriate picture, I
would have to create one from scratch. However, if the topic was describing a
chart, I could at once create one. But if it was a picture and I could not find one
without a watermark-obviously I could not remove their logos due to copyright
rules-I would use their pictures and cite the original source.

2.2.2. Designing writing sample as a poster by using some tools such as

Canva or Adobe photoshop

[Link]. Description of the task

This task was crucial for my position here. In addition to looking for a
appropriate example for an IELTS writing topic, I also needed to build a poster
which could be used to post online or to print out for students. In task one of the

10
writing tests, the sample, the vocabulary, and the outline were put on the poster.
And in task two, just the sample and the vocabulary were placed on the poster.
My responsibility here was to make it easy to read and comprehend; moreover, I
also made sure that the poster was appealing without using excessive amounts of
colors. To perform this part, the tool which I frequently used was Canva website;
it was incredibly user-friendly since it provided users with a large section of
template options, and if I forget to save the poster, the website would do so
automatically. And finally, after examining many times about the sample, the
vocabulary errors, I would download it and put all the sample of one month into
a folder then submitted it to the supervisor at the center.

[Link]. Difficulties of this task

When conducting this assignment, there were three main issues that I had
to overcome. First off, I did not think any of the images or other components,
such stickers, or designs, are quality. As a result, even when I finished and
downloaded it, I was unable to save it since it was a premium item that I had to
purchase in order to utilize. Secondly, in case I could not find a suitable picture
for the poster on Canva, I had to find on another website like Pinterest or Goggle.
But it was exceedingly challenging to get the right image, therefore I had to
spend a lot of time browsing several websites. Thirdly, the poster could not be
fixed once it had been downloaded; as a result, if I wanted to alter the colors or
the designs, I had to start again on the Canva website and download again.
Therefore, if there were many distinct posters, I would have to do each of them in
turn.

2.2.3. Other tasks

Apart from that, I spent time as a teaching assistant and in the human
resources department. Those tasks brought many benefits and working
relationships.

Being a teaching assistant, I created examinations and quizzes regarding

grammar and vocabulary for specific subjects, or maybe the structure that the

11
students had just studied. If I ever decided to teach English, I would be able to
build a mini exam for my pupils as well as acquire a lot of advice for taking the
IELTS test. Furthermore, I also needed to set up teaching materials for lessons
and assist in developing educational programs and modify appropriate materials.
And sometimes, when the center organized some activities at the university, my
job included supporting school activities, events, and school excursions. I also
had the chance to assist native instructors with their lesson plans or talk to them
about the content they used in their classrooms to see if there were any issues. It
was undoubtedly a great chance for me to improve my English speaking more
fluently and I also enhanced my translation skills by interpreting some
conversations for my colleagues.

Moreover, I also had a chance to participate in trial sessions to recruit

teachers teaching IELTS and TOEIC courses and provide feedback on the caliber
of teachers. When I took part in those classes, I could observe and gain many
useful tips in the upcoming IELTS exam. And I also had opportunities to practice
my speaking skills so that my ability to speak fluently was enhanced a lot. Last
but not least, my vocabulary became more solid and wider because I had to use a
lot of vocabulary when commenting, I could remember more words and I could
use them more proficiently.

Through those tasks, I could enrich my understanding a lot. Although

those were not my main responsibilities, they helped me a lot in studying and
also in my future career.

12
Chapter 3: Personal reflections on the internship

While studying at university, the internship is a very valuable opportunity

to experience the most authentic, professional working conditions. In addition to
putting my academic knowledge into practice, my three months at the Easy
Education English center also helped me create a sturdy basis for my future
career.

3.1. Knowledge acquired

Although my internship lasted just three months, it was highly beneficial

to me and gave me more practical professional experience than I had anticipated.
I had the chance to put my four English language skills-listening, speaking,
reading, and writing-into practice in this internship course. Along with my
advances in speaking, listening, translating, writing, working and creating
teaching feedback, presentations gave me the opportunity to learn Word and
PowerPoint. More than that, my abilities to design posters have developed
considerably. With the help of other instructors, my abilities in operating
computers and other contemporary devices like printers and picture machines are
steadily improving. At the Easy Education English center, all the instructors have
been passionate in pointing out my errors so that I could obtain a wealth of
experience for my future career. I realized how much better my English
grammar, interpreting, and translating abilities are.

3.2. Skills improved

The internship course gave me several opportunities to hone a variety of

talents throughout the course of my twelve-week internship at Easy Education
English center, including interpreting, translating, collaborating, and designing.

First and foremost, my internship enabled me to broaden my professional

expertise significantly. I got the chance to interact with an instructor who was a
native speaker and translated several significant documents. Teachers and staff at

13
the center gave me confidence-building advice on how to properly translate
documents or interpret in front of the public. My understanding of interpreting
techniques improved as a result of this internship training. I had the chance to
serve as a teacher's interpreter for native speakers. These priceless encounters
will be very beneficial to my future profession.

Working in pairs and as a team were also effective approaches to increase

interpersonal collaboration. In other words, because I worked with coworkers, I
was able to share my ideas with others, seek their opinion or advice, and express
myself in front of a group of people more effectively. Each team member had to
take responsibility for the team's success and fulfil his responsibilities on time.
The capacity to be accountable also included acknowledging and accepting
responsibility for errors in addition to being accountable for job accomplishment.

The final skill I developed throughout my internship was designing. I was

at first really reluctant to create any cards or posters, but after taking the time to
make several different posters, I am now more confident with designing things. I
believe that this is one of the most essential abilities for workers to have in the
modern market since many employers are now looking for applicants who can
design some basic objects. Additionally, designers of the future will collaborate
in far bigger interdisciplinary teams with people or technology from completely
diverse backgrounds to create better products and services. Therefore, designing
skill is surely important for everyone to obtain in order to be outstanding in the
labor market.

14
PART 3: CONCLUSION
During this practice process, I have accumulated a lot of fundamental
knowledge needed to meet and fulfil the requirements of future work. These are
extremely useful and necessary knowledge and experiences. Here are some of the
primary points I touched on throughout the report:

Chapter 1: The general profile of Easy Education English center: name,

address, number contact, email address, establishment and development of the
center, duties, and functions of each department.

Chapter 2: Description of assigned work including daily work and

difficulties in performing it.

Chapter 3: Results and experience accumulated through the internship.

My professional knowledge has advanced greatly as a result of the

internship, and the skills I learned at school- such as abilities for listening and
speaking, translating while speaking and writing, communicating effectively, and
some office computer skills such as creating posters, word processing, fixing
some problems on the computer - have all been put to good use.

However, I still have a lot of shortcomings with report writing and my

internship. To start with, there are a few inaccurate words in the translation of the
document. Next, I am quite unconfident when interpreting or speaking in front of
the crowd. Furthermore, there are some grammatical errors while writing the
internship report. And finally, the report layout has some illogical points.

Due to those reasons, I think I will always try my best to listen to the
advice and guidance from the teachers. I also need to be patient, calm in all
situations, humble and especially always try to learn. Moreover, in order to
translate successfully, it is necessary to listen, focus, practice self-confidence, not
afraid of crowds, calm, not afraid of mistakes to be able to speak fluently and

15
flexibly. I need to record what I need to do and what I have not done so that I can
learn from it for the next time.

The twelve weeks of my internship are crucial for me as well as other

trainees. Despite the little training period, the internship course has given me
more patience and confidence than previously. I thus feel more confident and at
ease while conversing with strangers. I would like to extend my heartfelt
gratitude to all of the instructors and personnel at the Easy Education English
Center, as well as to my supervisor and all teachers of English faculty at the
HCMC University of Economics and Finance (UEF).
