CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
1. The teacher’s presence and appearance in the classroom:
- Teachers should stand and move in a professional way. They should use eye contact and
move around to keep students interested.
2. Using the voice:
- Teachers should speak clearly and vary their tone to keep students engaged. They
should take care of their voice and avoid shouting.
3. Talking to students:
- Use simple words and gestures to help students understand, especially those still
learning the language.
4. Giving instructions:
- Make instructions clear and simple. Check that students understand before starting an
activity.
5. Student talk and teacher talk:
- Encourage students to talk more. Teachers should give clear instructions and let students
participate actively.
6. Creating lesson stages:
- Plan lessons in different parts that connect logically to make learning smooth and
structured.
7. Seating arrangements:
- Arrange seating to fit the activity:
● Orderly rows: Traditional setup with rows facing the teacher.
● Circles and horseshoes: Promotes sharing and discussion.
● Separate tables: Good for group work.
8. Student grouping:
- Group students in different ways:
● Whole-class: Good for new topics and controlled practice.
● Groupwork and pairwork: Encourages cooperation and idea sharing.
● Solowork: Allows independent work.
● Class-to-class: Combines two classes for joint activities.
9. Reacting to student behavior:
- Teachers should respond appropriately to students' behavior as it happens to maintain
order and support learning.
