SPEAKING TOPICS-GRADE 7
1: Talk about your favorite hobby
I have many hobbies, such as, playing volleyball, listening to music and swimming. However, my
favourite one is reading manga, a kind of Japanese picture books. Whenever I have spare time, for
example at weekends, on holidays, I would like to lie on my bed and enjoy thrilling and interesting
adventures described through beautiful pictures. On weekday, I usually spend about one hour a day
reading books before going to bed. I often share this hobby with my best friends or my sister.
when I was a kid, my mother used to tell me fairy tales. They were so interesting that I began to read
books by myself. I enjoy reading very much because it brings me a colourful and limitless world.
Moreover, It makes me feel comfortable and relax after a hard day of work, make me think about life's
lessons of friendship and family by touching stories. Books can also teach me how to be a good person,
even can solve many problems for me, which is the main reason why I like this kind of books.
2: Describe something that you do to stay healthy
Staying healthy is the most important in our life. There are many ways to stay healthy. First, I usually
spend one hour a day swimming at a sports centre . I often swim with my friends every afternoon.
Secondly, I always have a balanced diet which is full of fresh fruits and vegetables, will give extra fiber
and vitamins. Protein–rich foods like meat, fish, chicken, and eggs are also important but just enough.
Moreover, I try to avoid fast food, sugary sodas because they have lower nutrients and may lead to
overweight. Finally, have a rest is very important so I aim to get 8 hours of sleep per night. Getting a
good night sleep will allow us to be more productive the following day. Besides, I never play computer
games or surf the internet over 30 minutes per day. I think joining outdoor activities will improve my
health better than sitting at a place. Swimming help me relax after working hard, elevates my mood and
energizes me. it helps me have a good heathy and other social skills.
3: Talk about how to contribute to community activities
I live in a poor neighborhood, so there are a lot of poor people who need to be helped. They don’t have
enough food to eat and their children can’t go to school. My friends and I often donate old textbooks
and clothes to help them or teach English to some kids in my area. I hope they will be able to have a
better life in the future.
Besides, I often pick up litter in the park or along the beaches to help my city clean. I spend twice a
month doing these activities with my classmates, usually weekend. But once a year I often plant trees in
our neighborhood. The last time I enjoyed a community activity was last month. I collected rubbish,
planted trees and decorated parts of my neighborhood. I was happy because It made the neighborhood
cleaner and greener. I also had a lot of fun and learnt some social skills.
4: Talk about music and arts
Many people usually listen to music and see art every day. I do too because music and art play an
important role in our life. Art makes this world look more beautiful and music can heal our soul and
make us happier. When you have trouble in your live, just listen to your favorite songs and watch
something beautiful around us and then you will feel better and can overcome difficulties more easily.
Even when you are lonely, music and art can be good friends of you.
I often take part in our music club every weekend. I prefer playing the piano to flute in performances
because I has a better beat and a great feeling about the melody of each kind of music. Also it is my
pleasure to listen to the pianists performing.
Besides, sometimes I visit an art gallery in my local art museum. I like a photo than a painting because I
will see an absolutely realistic scenery. Therefore, I often visit a modern art exhibition whenever I have a
chance.
6: Talk about a historic place you have known
I visited The ancient Hue TWO YEARS AGO. Located on the bank of the Perfume River, this city is the
cradle/ˈkreɪ.dəl/ : cái nôi of Vietnamese culture and used to be the national capital, educational, cultural
and political center of Vietnam under the Nguyen Dynasty.
Hue is a popular tourist destination with people from all over the world. it’s famous for its unique and
oldest system of palatial architectures and mausoleums of 13 kings. There are numerous royal tombs,
pagodas and temples inside and around the city.
With an impressive history, amazing architecture such as Ngọ Môn Gate, Thai Hoa palace, Hiển Lâm
pavilion... The gate is located in the southern area and it is the largest gate among the 4 main gates of
Hue Citadel. It was only used when the King and his convoy/ˈkɒn.vɔɪ/ : hộ tống went in and outside the
Citadel and for greeting important delegates/ˈdel.ɪ.ɡət/ : đại diện, biểu.
Thai Hoa palace has a typical royal architecture decorated with lacquer/ˈlæk.ər/, gilding, and bronzeware
: sơn mài, mạ vàng và kim văn. The throne : ngai vàng of all Nguyen Kings are also displayed here. I was
very excited about this trip because it help me broaden my mind about the country’s rich history and
traditions .
7: Tell about a famous person
There are many famous people in the world who I need to learn but the person I appreciate most is an
extraordinary/ɪkˈstrɔː.dɪn.ər.i/ man, Nick Vujicic . Everyone knows him now as the best Australian
American : người Mỹ gốc Úc motivational speaker .
I really impressed to him who is born without arms and legs, only two small feet, one of which had two

will try to learn from him.

8: Talk about an outdoor activity at your school
My school has many outdoor activities each year. One of them is picking up litter in the park and along
beaches to help our city clean. We have a chance to protect the environment because ocean trash is a
serious problem that can not only affect that appearance of our public beaches but can also affect the
health of people and wildlife.
First, we carry multiple trash bags to collect and sort all of the litter. We wear thick, gardening gloves;
sturdy/ˈstɜː.di/ boots for rocky beaches and pick-up stick to gather cigarette butts/bʌt/, empty cans, food
wrappers, plastic bottles, fishing net, carrier bags : túi nilon,… Then, we use multiple bags to sort :loại
bỏ litter for recycling. Although everyone is tired, we are happy for keeping the park and beaches
looking nice and welcoming for locals and tourists– and to protect surrounding wildlife.
I like this activity because it brings unforgetable experience and the most important thing is a great way
to keep our city clean with the help of our friends.
9. What should you do to have traffic safety?
To have traffic safety, we should be careful when crossing the road. We must obey traffic rules such as
wear helmets, stop when the traffic light turns red, go on right lane and must always ride our bikes or
motorbikes with both hands on the handlebars. For cyclists, don’t carry more than one passanger
because it’s so dangerous. We must walk across the street at the zebra crossing. There are a huge
number of vehicles running so fast every minute, so it’s dangerous to go cycling or cross the streets in
the rush hour. Therefore, we should drive slowly, don’t ride on the pavement. Besides, we must see the
traffic signs, fasten a seatbelt when we are in a car, don’t stick any body parts out of the window of a
moving vehicle. Also we must wait for buses to fully stop before getting on or off. Before turning, we
should give a signal.
10. Should one drive after drinking alcohol? Why or why not?
Getting behind the wheel of any motorized : có động cơ vehicle – after consuming alcohol, even a small
amount can lead to harmful situations, putting yourself and others in danger like injuries, falls or
crashes.
Safe driving requires the ability to concentrate, make good judgements and quickly react to situations.
However, alcohol affects these skills.
Firstly, Drinking affects how quickly you’re able to respond to different situations. Therefore, if the car in
front of you brakes suddenly or a pedestrian crosses the street, it will take longer for your brain to
process the situation and prevent an accident.
Secondly, drinking affects your motor skills such as eye, hand and foot coordination : phối hợp. Without
crucial/ˈkruː.ʃəl/ : chủ yếu coordination/kəʊˌɔː.dɪˈneɪ.ʃən/ skills, you may be unable to avoid an
impending : sắp xảy ra/ɪmˈpen.dɪŋ/ harmful situation.
Thirdly, there are many things that require your undivided : ko phân tán concentration such as staying in
your lane, your speed and traffic signals. Your attention span : khoảng chú ý is dramatically reduced with
drinking.
Finally, it decreases vision : tầm nhìn and Inhibit/ɪnˈhɪb.ɪt/ : cản trở Judgment : sự phán xét in certain
circumstances/ˈsɜː.kə[Link]ɑːns/ : tình huống, hoàn cảnh.
11. Do you like films?
To be honest, my weekend plan is usually in front of a television screen and Watch a good movie. So far,
I have watched about 100 films of all types. They are an excellent way to help me relax, bring
refreshment and forget all the fuss :sự phiền phức, ồn ào in my life and in my mind. We can experience
beautiful scenes and artistic values. Moreover, my friends are really into films, so we often discuss and
debate : thảo luận the films that we have just watched.
12. What kind of films do you like best?
I love all kinds of movies but detective and historical films are the best choices. When I watch these, I
feel that I can deeply understand human emotions and historical moments, like the Vietnam-America
War.
A film that I saw recently was called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. He’s a powerful wizard. He’s
a student and learns about himself, his family and the bad things happening around him. The story is
gripping and the acting is excellent.
Moreover, if there was a second place, it would be comedy. A recent film I watched was Charlie Chaplin.
Within a 54 minute run time, it made me not stop laughing. this kind of film brighten my mood through
humor. I think comedy also lets us explore many interesting themes.
13. How often do you watch films?
I am quite busy but I always manage to see one or two films a week at home. I also include a small extra
list of films I have to watch with my sisters or my friends. However, at weekends or on holidays, I would
like to lie for hours on my bed and enjoy thrilling and interesting adventures described through
interesting films. Sometimes, I like to come to the cinema to have a different feeling.
14. Do you prefer to watch films in the cinema or at home?
My family usually watches films together at weekends, sometime we go to the cinema. Therefore, I
prefer watching at home to at the cinema. Firstly, it’s a cheap entertainment activity because we don’t
have to buy tickets. It also improve our relationship because it brings us closer. We will talk about its
lessons and share what we like about it. Moreover, watching English films will help us improve our
language skills. Secondly, there's no mess or waiting. You can easily get comfortable and eat whatever
you want while at the cinema you can only eat certain types of food like popcorns. Thirdly, you don’t
have to obey any rules. You can lie on the chair, scream excitedly, discuss with
friends without fear of disturbing others. Finally, you will not be able to watch your favorite movie if you
are not old enough while you can watch any movie you want at home. So why don’t you start watching
films with your family? you can see good things it gives.
15. Can you talk about your favourite film?
A favourite film that I saw recently on the internet was called The Passion of the Christ. It is a fantasy
film. The film was about the last 24 hours of Jesus’ life on earth. It showed when he was in the garden
before he was captured and brought before a trial all the way up to when he was crucified and rose up
again from out of the grave. It was actually quite moving because the director was able to just do it the
way that he wanted it done. This movie caused quite an uproar when it was published as some people
really loved it. Everything about it was very beautiful, from the cinematography to the actual scenery.
The acting was top-notch, he had a great performance. I think the main actor deserved an Academy
Award. One of the hardest scenes for me to watch in the movie was where Jesus gets whipped before
he is crucified. It was so realistic and I had to hide my eyes. The film was a big success and received a lot
of good reviews.
16. Talk about the festival you know
Tet is an important festival in Vietnam which occurs in late January or early February. It usually lasts for
about 7 days. It is an occasion for every Vietnamese to have a good time. A great deal of activities are
built up before Tet. People organize spring fairs. Shops are full of goods. Vietnamese families spend time
shopping, cleaning and decorating their houses with peach, apricot blossom, preparing traditional food
such as square cake, dried candied fruit and making appetizing food to worship the ancestors. My family
usually spend half of the month before Tet cleaning and decorating our house. On these days, I often
help my mother removing old things, washing mattress and pillow, trimming trees, buying flowers to
make my house look beautiful. I also gather and make square glutinous rice cake with my grandparents.
Furthermore, it is also a chance for members to return home and gather together. During Tet, people
often visit family members, friends, go to Pagodas,...and they exchange New Year’s wishes. Especially,
children can receive lucky money from adults and get a chance to see dragon dances and fireworks and
wear new clothes. In conclusion, Tet is really a time for peace and love in Vietnam.
17. What should we do to save energy?
Energy is one of the most important things in our life, so we should save it. Here are some ways to save
energy. Firstly, switch off all electrical appliances, unplug battery chargers or turn off the faucet when
they’re not in use. Keep the refrigerator door closed. Always keep them clean so that they can run more
efficiently. Switch to energy-efficient products because they use less power and last longer.
Secondly, travel by public transports or walk instead of private transports. Furthermore, make sure to
use natural light to the fullest and avoid turning on lights in the morning and afternoon. Finally,
increasing insulation around the house by installing plastic sheeting or using thick curtains to keep our
house at a comfortable temperature. Heat your water by using the sun’s free energy instead of water
heater. Wait until your washing machine and dishwasher are full before running. All in all, with great
benefits of energy, it is necessary to save it.
[Link] means of transport will people travel in the future?
Whether your style is anything, you can find inspiration with bullet train journeys. First, their
movements are soothing, so you don’t get carsick. It’s more convenient because it have somewhere you
can eat and drink at your leisure, maybe a bar with free Wi-Fi.
Second, what makes the bullet train travel more comfortable is that you don't have to drive and avoid
traffic jams so you don’t have to wait. You can do whatever, read or watch films or have a chat with
other passengers. Also you can look at the surroundings if you are in a window seat. They are majestic
beauties, charming cities and villages, and untouched wilderness. You are surely enchanted by what you
both see and experience.
Third, the journey itself becomes the most thrilling part of the travel. It can also be relaxing because you
can get enough sleep during the overnight journey. And the last, it won’t pollute the environment and
totally safe. You won’t have to worry about bad weather too.
In conclusion, you will not get these opportunities when you travel by other means of transport.
19. When you are a road user, what should you NOT do?
When I’m a road user, to have traffic safety, I shouldn’t cross the road on a red light, cycle on the
pavement or footpath, lose concentration when driving and stick any body parts out of the window of a
moving vehicle.
In addition, I shouldn’t talk and laugh loudly, use mobile phone or headphones, go in a red light.
The most important thing is that I shouldn’t drive too fast, or wear sunglasses because it is difficult to
see the road properly to ride. I shouldn’t drink alcohol, even a small amount or not driving if I’m tired,
because it will affect ability to concentrate, make good judgements and quickly react to situations, as a
result, it can put myself and others in danger like Injuries, falls or crashes .
[Link] about the problems of overpopulation and offer solution
Nowadays, the world population is growing at a rapid speed in many countries, especially developing
countries, and they are facing up to serious problems. The first one is shortage of food, lack basic needs
such as clean water, natural resources and modern health services. The second one is children don’t
have access to schools. As a result, It leads to low living standards, poor living conditions.
To solve these problems, I think we should raise awareness of the problems of overpopulation through
carrying out population education programmes like family planning programs. We should implement
reward and punishment policies. Another solution is using birth control methods. Not only would it help
to slow the population growth rate, but it can also help to prevent the high rate for infant deaths in
those countries.
It’s time to encourage everyone understand the danger of overpopulation and let’s join to decrease this
speed to our world get better.
