Within the period, learners should be able to:
a. identify two syllable words with short a, e, i, o, and u sounds;
b. recognize the two syllable words with a, e, i, o, and u sounds; and
c. produce two syllable words with a, e, i, o, and u sounds.

At the end of the lesson, the learners will be

b) recognize the two syllable words with a,
e, i, o, and u sounds; and
c) produce two syllable words with a, e, i,
o, and u sounds.

The short /a/ sound is like the sound a in ‘apple’


The short /e/ sound is like the sound e in ‘egg’
The short /i/ sound is like the sound i in ‘ink’
The short /o/ sound is like the sound o in ‘orange’ (Listening)
The short /u/ sound is like the sound u in umbrella

Syllable
- A single unbroken sound of a spoken
or written word.
