INTRODUCTION

An internship, according to the National Association of Colleges and

Employers, is a pivotal form of experiential learning that bridges theoretical
knowledge from the classroom with practical applications in the professional world. It
serves as a vital stepping stone for Business Administration students, integrating
academic insights with real-world scenarios to develop crucial skills for their future
roles.

The Business Administration Internship Program is designed to immerse

students in the dynamic realm of business operations, equipping them with the
practical acumen and professional demeanor necessary for success in various business
settings. This program is instrumental in enhancing participants' capabilities, fostering
self-assurance, and refining decision-making abilities. It allows students to identify
and fortify their strengths and weaknesses, laying a robust groundwork essential for
their careers post-graduation.

Within this program, students can select specialized tracks such as Marketing
Procedures, Marketing Strategy Procedures, and Administrative Office Internship.
These tracks enable students to explore specific business functions and industries,
aligning their internship experiences with their career aspirations. The autonomy
provided empowers students to actively engage in the internship application and
selection process, ensuring a tailored and enriching experience.

The internship unfolds in two distinct phases, offering students the flexibility
to choose their preferred specialization. This structure enables participants to develop
proficient skills using a variety of office equipment and software, preparing them for
the diverse demands of business administration roles. By gaining exposure to different
office environments and adhering to rigorous safety protocols, students learn to adapt
and thrive in professional settings.

The Business Administration Internship Program not only provides practical

skills but also fosters invaluable networking opportunities. Students have the chance
to connect with industry professionals, gain insights into business practices, and build
relationships that may influence their future career paths. Partner companies are
dedicated to ensuring the safety and professional growth of each intern, providing a
supportive environment for learning and development.

Through this immersive experience, aspiring Business Administration

professionals can refine their skills, gain practical insights, and cultivate a
professional identity suited to their chosen field. The internship program serves as a
transformative journey, preparing students to navigate the complexities of the
business world with confidence and competence.

By the past three months of being a student intern, we’ve learned a lot, especially by
communicating, and discovered it’s essential to be enthusiastic and open to learning
new skills, asking for more work, and being curious to learn and ask questions. This
attitude helps us grow as aspiring financial employees in our future field.

COMPANY PROFILE

HISTORY

A long time ago, there lived a young man named Apyaw in Opalon near
Kiokong, presently called Quezon, Bukidnon. One day, he came to Balaisan, a small
hill overlooking the present Lake Apo. When he arrived at the place, he noticed many
people gathered below the hill/ at the foot of the hill. He came to visit them. He found
out that they were there to harvest palay. He decided to stay with them and help the
group in harvesting.

Every afternoon, the ladies pounded rice. Apyaw saw one beautiful young
lady. He decided to court her. He decided to court her and, in a few days, she accepted
his love. This girl’s name was Nepehlet. Apyaw was happy to stay in the big house
with the group of people.

One day, Nepehlet’s father decided to out hunting for deer and wild hogs.
Apyaw volunteered to go with the father in hunting. On the second day of the hunt,
they agreed to go home. They out of the tails of their catch and tied these together
forming a necklace. The necklace was placed around the neck of their dogs. The dogs
went ahead. When the dogs arrived home, Nephelet and the other ladies were
pounding rice. They sang and pounded happily, Nephelet proudly approached the dog
and started asking questions. She asked, “Where is Apyaw and my father”? Did they
kill wild pigs or deer? Naturally, no answer is given because dogs do not talk. The
lady continued questioning and at last surprisingly she uttered words. The dog said
“You know that dogs do not talk, but because of persistent questioning, I am going to
answer your questions but don’t repent later. Your father and Apyaw are on the way
home following me. You count the tails around my neck. That is the number of
animals they killed. The dog continued talking. He said after pounding rice and when
your father and Apyaw arrive home, cook as much rice and meat as your parents and
others could consume. Eat as much as you can with Apyaw and your parents because
something later on will happen. That will be the last meal that you will heat. Nephelet
followed what their dog told her.
After eating Apyaw took his bamboo flute. Nephelet pounded rice again. She
sang as she pounded while Apyaw rendered songs using his flute. Less than an hour
later, the atmosphere changed. Silence and darkness were noticed all around. Later on,
thunder and flashes of lightning followed. Heavy rain and strong wind followed too.

It did not take an hour later, the people in the big house noticed that the water
under and around the house was reaching the floor and the ground where the house
stood was sinking. Apyaw jumped and took hold of Nephelet’s hand. He made
another jump holding the lady’s hands, then another jump, another jump, and jump
continuously. The place where the house stood became a lake. One of these is in
Pangantukan which is named Napalit Lake.

Lightning flashes continued and when Apyaw and Nephelet could no longer
jump, they stood side by side. Apyaw uttered a prayer, “Heaven and earth, let not
lighting kill us, make us something that will give. Comfort and happiness to people
and animals in the future. “Instantly, they became trees.” Apyaw became Lawa-an and
Nephelet became kiwan trees.

On that day before the said incidents occurred, there were several women
weaving cloth and blankets in Kaingin a little above the present site of barangay
Guinuyoran. They were afraid that the branches of trees that were broken and blown
would hurt or kill them; they stopped weaving, stood, and started to run home to that
big house at the foot of Balaisan. The cloth they were weaving was tied to their
waists. They ran and ran dragging behind the cloth. The site of the presently barangay
Guinuyoran was the place where the weaves ran and dragged on the cloth.

The first group of people settled in this barangay and the place Guinuyoran
(Guinuyoran means something was dragged on) and finally when it became an
organized barrio it continued to carry the name Guinuyoran up to the present.
Guinuyoran was organized in 1912 when Manuel Fortich Sr. was the Governor of
Bukidnon.

The organizers of the barrio were Filomeno Domia, Fabiano Domia, Miguel
Okit (Nanyangga), Miguel Okit (Mamintoy), Leonecia Mansarilya, Neoncio
Mantinumban (Mantinamban), Ramon Hilario (Manleoncio). The leaders who made
possible the growth and improvement of the barangay of Guinuyoran were the
following. Miguel Okit, Serapio Cruz, Bernardo Tinamban, Marcelo Peruhan,
Aguinaldo Domia, Jose Asinero, Felomeno Hilario, Casiano Sagala, Lorenzo
Binayao, Alejandro Ragay, Rupero Kisteria and Inego Campomanes.

The leaders enumerated above had not rendered the same length of service.
Some have rendered two years, the shortest, some have served several times and the
one who rendered the longest service is Barangay Captain Inego Campomanes.

In the 1982 election for barangay officials, Barangay Campomanes did not
run, and Hermio Rodano was killed together with two other companions while on his
way home after visiting one of the sitios in March 1985.

After his death, Emeliano Zamora, a barangay was the choice as the successor
to act as the Barangay chairman of Barangay Guinuyoran.

And the elections of 1989, Virgilio Meso was elected as a Punong Barangay
together with six kagawad. Macario Loking Sr., Alviso Okit, Leonora Sandigan, Ely
Pasco, Antonieta Maquilan, Diosdado Pasco, Esmeralda Pana, Brgy. Secretary,
Lylince Repolidon, Brgy. Treasurer and Samuel Talucdo K-B Chairman.

In the 1994 Brgy, Election, Mr. Virgilio Meso did not run and Mr. Eddie
Ansinero was the choice of the people as Punong Barangay of Barangay Guinuyoran,
Valencia Bukidnon together with his seven (7) Barangay councilors, and in barangay
election, in 1997 Eddie Asinero was elected as Punong Barangay until 2007 as his full
pledge termer. 2007 barangay election, the late Kagawad Romeo Abejar took a chance
and won as the barangay chairman but unfortunately, he was slain in a stabbing
incident in May 2008. He was succeeded by the first councilor Hon. Nestor Ortiz Sr.
on May 8, 2008, and the wife of the late Abejar was appointed as councilor for
replenishment of the vacant position. In the 2010- Barangay Election again Eddie
Asinero was re-elected and served for one term until 2013. On October 28, 2013
Barangay Election he was defeated by the young and diligent man “the Man of
Action” Hon. Renato M. Abella in the election of 2013.

At the present, the barangay Guinuyoran facing a great challenge to pursue the
endeavor of the true vision and mission that the barangay Guinuyoran upholds.
Anchored by the united barangay officials Hon. Renato M. Abella as Punong
Barangay, and barangay kagawad’s are Hon. Rodolfo Mapa Sr., Hon. Maribeth E.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SUPERVISED FIELD EXPERIENCE PROGRAM

HIGHLIGHTS EXPERIENCE

Certainly, here are some potential highlights from an on-the-job training

experience at the Barangay Guinuyoran Hall in Valencia City, Bukidnon:

 In the aspect of offering essential services, interns are available to aid all
residents of Barangay Guinoryan in the issuance of barangay clearances,
certificates, and permits required for diverse purposes, including residency,
business activities, and construction endeavors.
 Within the realm of community programs and services, interns can aid in the
organization and facilitation of various community events, programs, and
services, including health clinics, feeding programs, and initiatives for youth
development.
 In the area of records management, interns successfully maintained records of
barangay transactions, meetings, and other administrative duties to uphold
transparency and accountability.
 In the domain of public assistance, interns are capable of offering aid and
guidance to Barangay residents in accessing government services, resolving
issues, and meeting the needs of the community
 Cultural Sensitivity and Communication Skills: Developed cultural
competence and communication skills by interacting with diverse populations
and addressing the healthcare needs of individuals from different backgrounds
with empathy and respect.
PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED

During On-the-Job Training (OJT), defining problems involves identifying

issues or challenges that arise in the workplace and understanding their impact on
tasks, processes, or outcomes. During the internship, interns encountered problems
that pushed them to work much better.

1. Had trouble using the computer. The student trainees encountered various
challenges related to computers because we didn’t have enough knowledge about
Microsoft Excel.
2. Student trainees encountered a lack of practical experience with applying
theoretical knowledge to real-work job assigned.
3. Misplaced Personnel record. Student trainees encountered misplaced personnel
records due to the high number of records that the trainees assigned.
4. Difficulty using the scanner machine. The student trainees encountered the problem
of using the scanner machine because it is a multitasking machine, so while we were
using that machine some other employees were printing so were confused. We didn’t
want to distract their work.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Students may struggle with the documentation and
reporting requirements of their training program, especially if not familiar with the
necessary procedures or paperwork.
STRATEGIC RECOMMENDATION

1. The student trainee make research using a different source of information like
Google and YouTube, to find valuable information regarding the Microsoft Excel data
entry.

2. All I have to do is to observe, research and asked some question when it regards to
the tasked assigned because the theory is different in actual work.

3. The student trainee made some code to easily find the documents record needed in
our barangay.

4. The trainee always observe and asked some question regarding the proper operation
of the machine, considering that we don’t have a proper training regarding the
operation.

5. The trainee is not afraid to ask questions to the OJT supervisor or any Barangay
officials regarding the task assigned.

By implementing these suggestions, barangay halls can enhance internship programs,

empower interns to contribute meaningfully and prepare them for successful careers
in public service.
LESSONS LEARNED

Through the on-the-job training experience at the Guinuyoran Barangay Hall

in Valencia City, several valuable lessons may have been learned, including:

1. Adaptability: Flexibility and adaptability are crucial when working in dynamic

healthcare environments. Learning to quickly adjust to changing
circumstances, whether it's unexpected emergencies, resource limitations, or
cultural differences, is essential for providing effective patient care and
maintaining professionalism.
2. Teamwork and Collaboration: Collaboration within multidisciplinary
healthcare teams is essential for delivering comprehensive and coordinated
care. Recognizing the importance of teamwork and effective communication
in achieving common goals fosters a supportive work environment and
enhances patient outcomes.
3. Trainees have found that operating office equipment can pose challenges
initially, but consistent practice leads to mastery. Understanding the machine's
components and applying classroom knowledge to address issues are crucial
steps. By actively engaging with the equipment and applying theoretical
knowledge, trainees can overcome initial hurdles and become proficient.
4. Trainee students have realized that feeling uneasy can harm their relationships
with colleagues and reduce productivity. Thus, they should practice being
comfortable around others and building rapport. This includes understanding
social dynamics, adapting to the workplace culture, and recognizing individual
personalities. By doing so, they can improve task performance, foster a
positive work environment, and contribute effectively. To overcome
discomfort, trainees should engage with colleagues, observe workplace
dynamics, and participate in social activities.
5. Interns should develop effective communication skills with residents,
barangay officials, and other stakeholders, including addressing community
concerns and facilitating meetings.
CONCLUSIONS

In conclusion, the on-the-job training provided at a barangay hall offers interns

a distinctive chance to acquire hands-on experience and an understanding of the
complexities of community governance and development. Throughout their training,
interns should prioritize honing essential skills like effective communication,
problem-solving, and building relationships. By actively participating in community
activities, grasping administrative procedures, and engaging in development projects,
interns can significantly contribute to the well-being of the barangay while gaining
invaluable insights for their future endeavors in public service or community
development. Moreover, upholding ethical and professional standards is crucial for
earning trust and respect within the barangay community. Overall, the barangay hall
internship serves as a crucial milestone for interns to advance professionally, make
positive contributions to their communities, and prepare for future roles in public
service.

Furthermore, the internship experience encourages personal growth by urging

interns to step out of their comfort zones, adapt to new environments, and cultivate
resilience when faced with challenges. It offers a platform for self-discovery and
identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas needing improvement.

Additionally, the relationships formed during the internship—with fellow

interns, barangay officials, or community members—hold immense value. These
connections provide support, mentorship, and networking opportunities that extend
beyond the internship period.

Ultimately, the on-the-job training at a barangay hall goes beyond acquiring

technical skills; it's about embracing a mindset of service, empathy, and community
involvement. It fosters a sense of responsibility and civic duty, motivating interns to
become proactive catalysts for positive change in their communities and beyond. As
interns transition to future endeavors, they carry with them the lessons learned,
experiences gained, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact on the world
around them
