REDEVELOPMENT OF DHOLERA
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The success of any venture cannot be regarded as the end result of a single factor. It requires a harmonious
unification of perseverance, inspiration and motivation; along with the right kind of guidance working on this
dissertation in a truly different perspective.
At this level of understanding it is often difficult to comprehend and assimilate a wide spectrum of knowledge
without proper guidance and advice. Hence, I take the opportunity to express my heart felt gratitude to my
respected guide, Ar. Naved Ariyana, his unfailing guidance and constant encouragement, and support which
has enabled me to successfully complete this task.
I Yogesh Kumar, tenth semester student of Galgotias school of architecture, GU, would like to gratefully and
sincerely thank my guide panel for this guidance, understanding, patience, and most importantly, his
friendship during my thesis synopsis study. Which encouraged me to grow as an instructor and an independent
thinker. I am not sure many graduate students are given the opportunity to develop their own individuality
and self-sufficiency by being allowed to work with such independence.
Though the following thesis synopsis study is an individual work, I could never have reached the heights or
explored the depths without the help of books published by various authors, the e- books available on the
internet, the research papers published by various authors and the various organizations and websites
providing information related to my dissertation topic.
I express my sincere thanks to all the teachers who have helped me throughout this process, my parents and
my friends for their kind cooperation and help at various stages, which has made my work possible.

REDEVELOPMENT OF DHOLERA
Today everybody needs or is striving hard for better standard of living. We all want to provide for future,
use the latest technology at the same time have reminders of the past. We all want to live in an
environment which is inspiring and raises our spirits in order to fulfil our ambitions and aspirations.
The project aims to create a successful urban public space for the people of that area because it is only in
public places that there are interactions of communications between. people. The city centre aims to
provide all the necessary facilities that the neighbourhood requires for its comfortable sustenance. The
main aim of the thesis is how to develop this city centre into the living room of the city catering to the
needs of people around it. Therefore, trying to create an environment which is inspiring and increases
scope of incidental interaction between people.
2. NEED
Architecture is a subset of a civilization. Architecture is not restricted to the built and unbuilt, it should
deal with the whole environments which not only include physical aspects but social issues as well. So, to
design a whole environment which acts as a stage for the activities of a community. I have taken up a
project like this by providing spaces to create opportunities and at the same time being flexible as the
community changes its activities with time. Through a project of such discipline, I have identified the
following advantages which deal upon various issues of a community and place.
3. SCOPE
Creates new local jobs -temporary and permanent-and keeps earnings local.
Establishes an environment that fosters growth in new businesses.
Eliminates hazards and conditions that undermine the integrity and safety of the community.
Provides upgraded and needed infrastructure for future growth.
Supports local historic preservation efforts.
4. AIM
This project aims to create a space which can form the node for experiencing commercial, cultural and
social activities; CITY CENTRE at a much-reduced scale.
5. OBJECTIVE
The objective behind the project is to understand the importance and design a Future proof city
centre that is a commercial cultural and often a historical, political and geographical heart of the city.
To create a city centre providing an iconic image and a landmark to the city.
To develop a greater understanding of inter relationship of variety of spaces, various characters
public, semi-public, private, entertainment centre, commercial, administrative etc.
To identify priority redevelopment project areas, rehabilitation and heritage preservation targets, and
urban renewal target areas for future MUD actions
