1 ) How does the mobility of an electron change when the potential difference
across the conductor is doubled keeping the length and temperature
constant?

OR

Specific resistance of copper , silver and constant are 1.8x10-6 Ω, 2x10-6Ω &
48x10-6Ω cm respectively. Which is the best electrical conductor and why?

2 ) In the Bridge as shown in the figure current through the galvanometer

will be zero, then find the value of X?

3) A 9 v battery of negligible internal resistance is connected across a 80.4 V

battery and a resistance of RΩ. Find the value of the current in circuit.

4) (a) When electrons drift in a metal from lower potential to higher potential
does it mean that all free electrons of the metal are moving in the same
direction?

(b) A 10Ω thick wire is trenched so that its length becomes 3 times.
Assuming that there is no change in its density on its stretching, calculate
the resistance of the new wire?

5) Three resistors of R1= 4Ω, R2 = 12Ω, R3 = 12Ω, R4 = 19Ω are connected in

series across a 12V battery. Calculate:

a) The total resistance of the circuit.

b) The total current flowing through the circuit.

c) The voltage drop across each resistor.

6) Three resistors of R1= 2Ω, R2 = 2Ω, R3 = 2Ω are connected in parallel

across a 3V battery. Calculate:
a) The equivalent resistance of the circuit.

b) The total current flowing through the circuit.

c) The current through each resistor.

7) a) 2 Resistors of R1 & R2 of 2 Ω and 7 Ω are connected in series across a

battery. The ratio of power dissipated in them, P1:P2 will be?

b) A potential difference of 2v is applied between the points A and B

shown in network drawn. Calculate

i) the equivalent resistance of the network between the points A and B.

ii) the magnitude of currents flowing in the arms AFCEB and AFDEB.

OR

Determine the equivalent resistance of networks shown in the Figure.

8) (a) A cell of emf E and internal resistance is connected across variable load
resistor R. draw plots.

(i) Terminal voltage V.

(ii) Current as a function of R.

It is found that when R = 2Ω, I=3A & when R is decreased to to 5Ω current
reduces to 0.5 A. find E & r?

(b) Using kirchoff’s Law calculate the V between B & D in circuit diagram
as shown in the figure.

9) (a) Show variation of resistivity of Copper as a function of temperature in a

graph.

(b) (a) In a metre bridge the balance point is found to be at 45 cm from the
end A, when the resistor Y is of value 12.5Ω. calculate the value of balancing
length on the same wire if X & Y are interchanged.

OR

Two metallic wires of the same material have the same length but cross-
sectional area is in the ratio 1 : 2. They are connected (i) in series and (ii) in
parallel. Compare the drift velocities of electrons in the two wires in both the
cases (i) and (ii).
