II. Session Details
Session Title: GOOD STEWARDSHIP, POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE PEACE

Session Objectives: A. Understand the concept of good stewardship and its importance in
protecting the environment.
B. Differentiate between positive peace (peace as the presence of justice and
equality and negative peace(as the absence of violence)
C. Reflect on how they can contribute to promoting good stewardship and
positive peace in their community.

Key Concepts: *Stewardship is the careful and responsible management of something.


*Positive peace is defined as the attitudes, institutions, and structures that create
and sustain a peaceful society.
*Negative peace is the absence of violence or fear of violence.

III. Facilitation Strategies

Introduction and 5 minutes Begin the lesson by asking students to define what

Discuss the importance of taking care of the


environment and the role of individuals in being good
stewards of the Earth.

Introduce the concepts of positive peace (peace as the


presence of justice and equality) and negative peace
(peace as the absence of violence)

Concept 10 minutes “Environmental Scavenger Hunt “


Exploration
 Divide students into small groups and provide
them with a list of items related to
environmental conservation (e.g. recyclable
items, plants, animals).
 Instruct students to go around the school or
nearby area to find and collect the items on the
list.
 After the scavenger hunt, have students present
their findings and discuss how they can
contribute to protecting the environment as
good stewards.
Valuing/Wrap-up 15 minutes “Role-Playing Positive and Negative Peace”

Divide students into pairs and provide them with role-


playing scenarios related to positive and negative
peace (e.g. resolving a conflict peacefully, witnessing
an act of injustice).

 Have students act out the scenarios and discuss


the difference between positive and negative
peace in each situation.

Reflective 5 minutes Encourage students to reflect on how they can
