Procedure:
1. Group the pupils through a game “ The Boat is Sinking”.
2. If pupils have already 5 members, choose one “Taya”.
3. Choose one “Taya” and one who will hold the coin.
4. The Taya will face opposite the players so that she/ he will not
see who is the one holding the coin.
5. The pupils will all chant the following:

6. After singing the chant, the “Taya “ will get inside the circle
and look for the coin. If the “Taya” caught the one who holds
the coin, he/she will be the next “Taya”. This game will last for
30 minutes only.

Dedicated 50 Activity: Reading of the story ‘A Bushel of Peaches ”
Reading Time A. Motivation:
Ask: Are you familiar with peach/peaches? (Show a picture of
peach/ peaches on screen). Do you include this in your basket
of 12 fruits in your table during Christmas and New Year’s Eve?
Our story was about a story of a boy with his Dad in a fruit
stand. Even though he doesn’t like peaches, he was able to
convince his Dad to buy not only a basket, but a bushel of
peaches. Let’s find out how Danny convinced his Dad to buy
peaches.

B. Unlocking of Difficult Words


Before we will read the story, let us first look at the unfamiliar
words in the story.
1. bushel – an imperial and US customary
unit of volume based upon an earlier
measure of dry capacity. The old bushel is
equal to 2 kennings (obsolete), 4 pecks, or 8
dry gallons, and was used mostly for
agricultural products, such as wheat. In
modern usage

2. peach/ peaches- a round stone fruit with juicy


yellow flesh and downy pinkish-yellow
skin

3. cobbler- dish cooked in the oven that consists


of cooked food, usually fruit, with a thick
bread-like mixture on top: For dessert there
was peach cobbler.

4. crumble- A crumble is typically a


dessert with a crumbly topping
consisting of flour, butter, sugar,
and sometimes oats, baked over a fruit filling

5. crisp- a dessert made with a streusel topping. In the US, it is also


called apple crumble, a word
which refers to a different
dessert in the UK, Canada,
Australia, and New Zealand.
Ingredients usually include
cooked apples, butter, sugar,
flour, cinnamon, and often oats
and brown sugar, ginger, and/or
nutmeg.

Students will be asked to


accomplish the worksheet for
unlocking difficult words.

They will also be given time to


write sentences using the
unfamiliar words listed.

Teacher reads the story aloud while pupils follow reading silently
holding the copy of it.
