DIVISION IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LEARNING RECOVERY PROGRAM (LRP)
CURRICULUM MATERIALS AND CAPABILITY BUILDING FOR K TO 3 TEACHERS

1. To comply with Regional Memorandum No. 871, s. 2023 which spells out provisions and proposed
activities to capacitate Key Stage 1 (K-3) teachers in the implementation of the Learning Recovery
Curriculum (8-week curriculum) that will be utilized by all schools in the Schools Division of Samar
(SDO-Samar), the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID) will lead in the Division Conduct of
Teacher Trainers and Mass Training of Teachers handling kindergarten to grade 3 following this
scheme and timeline:

2. The objectives of the capability building sessions and the LRP are as follows:
a. distinguish the nature of the 8-week curriculum and reading readiness
activities from the regular competencies in the MELCs,
b. demonstrate mastery in the use of the 8-week curriculum and reading
readiness materials,
c. develop a remedial plan for key stage 1 pupils; and
d. develop appreciation on the Learning Recovery Program (LRP) by using the
ready-made materials for the 8-week curriculum and reading readiness
materials.
3. The participants in the Training of Trainers (TOT, August 24-26, 2023) will be
chosen/determined by the Public Schools District Supervisors or District In-Charge
(PSDSs/DICs). They shall be guided by these: MTs, HTs and Teachers 1-3 who have solid
background in teaching beginning reading, have excellent knowledge in basic computer skills,
are multi-literate, have good communication skills, and outstanding facilitation and people
and other soft skills. The groupings of districts are appended in this Memorandum to guide
PSDSs/DICs in determining the selection of participants.

e. 2 for Numeracy
From this configuration, it could be deduced that only ten )10) participants per cluster will
be authorized to attend. All PSDSs/DICs will ensure that all participants shall be computer
literate and could make sense with online templates – google forms/drives, and the like.
5. All participants are expected to take along with them their fully charged laptops, and wi-fi
modems that will be used during the hands-on simulations for scoring and recording and
downloading of softcopies of the 8-week curriculum materials, teaching/learning
manipulatives, laptop chargers and extension cords, sleeping paraphernalia. Kindergarten
participants shall take along with them their ukuleles.
4. No registration fee shall be collected from the participants. Because of time constraints, they
shall provide for their own expenses for the time being, and later claim their reimbursement
for travel and per diems and other incidental expenses.
5. Expenses that shall be incurred by the trainers and participants in these activities including the
reproduction of the 8-week curriculum teaching and learning materials, per diems and travel
expenses trainers and participants shall be charged against school MOOE/local funds and/or
declared excess amount of the downloaded funds per DepEd Memorandum DM-CT-2023-167
or EOSY Reading Program Funds as specified in the provisions of RM No. 817 s. 2023,
subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
6. Immediate and widest dissemination of this Memorandum is required.
