THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
The study's theoretical framework is based on green
chemistry, which focuses on reducing hazardous substance
use and waste generation. It uses banana peel and citronella
as an alternative floorwax, aligning with Bronfenbrenner's
Ecological Systems Theory, which emphasizes the
interdependence of humans and the environment. This
approach promotes sustainable living and reduces harmful
chemicals' impact on the environment.

explore lived experiences, perceptions,
and meanings of using banana peel with
citronella floor wax as an alternative to
commercial floor waxes.

Grade-11 STEM senior high school students
from Pedro Oloy N. Roa Sr. Highschool

CONCLUSION
• The qualitative data analysis revealed positive experiences and
perceptions of using banana peel with citronella as a floor wax.
• Participants expressed satisfaction with the wax's effectiveness in
polishing and protecting their floors, praising its ability to restore
shine and provide a natural sheen.
• The fragrance of the wax was pleasant, refreshing, and natural,
adding to the overall ambiance of living or working spaces.
• The eco-friendliness and sustainability of the wax were highly
regarded, as they recognized the use of natural and organic
ingredients.
• Safety aspects were of concern to students, and the citronella
component was noted for its effectiveness in repelling insects.
