 understand the meaning of nouns.
 Identify and differentiate different types of nouns.
 use nouns in sentence composition.

Instructional Objectives:
After the completion of the topic the students will be able to -

 Application            - organise ideas in real life situations
Interest                   - take interest in reading stories and identify part of speech
Skills - develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills

PERIOD-1

 WARM UP ACTIVITY
It’s a person Tell them that everything around us is noun.

 ANNOUNCEMENT & INTRODUCTION


Share with the students the purpose of learning grammar: so that we can become better speakers and writers.
Tell students that today they will be learning about what a noun is and how to find them in a sentence. Ask
students to look around the room and look for objects. Call on a few students to share their item. Explain that
all of those objects are nouns, which are the words we use for people, places, and things.

 EXPLICIT INSTRUCTION/TEACHER MODELING (10-15 MINUTES)


 Ask students to define a noun. After taking a few students' ideas, explain that a noun is a person, place,
or thing.
 Write " speaks five languages" on the board and ask students to identify what is wrong with the
sentence. Call on one student. After they share their idea, say that we don’t know who speaks five
languages. Explain that this is because the sentence is missing a noun.
 Give more examples of nouns to share the types of nouns with the students.
 Tell them the difference between Proper noun and common nouns.
 Write a sentence on the board and ask two random students to come and ask one to identify the proper
noun and other to identify the common noun. Repeat the same for more students.
 Do practice of exercise given on page no 8 (MCB)

 SUMMARIZE the meaning and types of nouns at the end of the class.
 HOMEWORK : Ask students make a table differentiating the proper and common noun

PERIOD-2

RECAPTULISATION

 A quick revision of previous day topic. (meaning of noun and common and proper nouns)

TOPIC
 Write a few examples of collective nouns on the board.

Ask students to tell the meaning of the above words if they know the meaning like they might answer

Bouquet is of flowers
Here teacher will correct them and tell them that group of nouns are called collective nouns. Give them few
examples
 A team of players
 A bouquet of flowers
 A forest of trees
 a pair of shoes
 A bundle of sticks

PRACTICE
 Do exercise given on page no 9 (MCB)

HOME ASSIGNMENT.
 Prepare a list of collective nouns on A4 size sheet and learn the same.

PERIOD-3
RECAPTULISATION
 A brief recap of the previous 2 days topics, a small assessment through random questions from the
students such as meaning of nouns and differentiation of common and proper nouns.
TOPIC
 Ask students to describe pictures given on page no 18 (Grammar connect) in their words.
 Point out their observance and tell them the difference between Singular and Plural nouns
 Discuss and make students aware about the rules given on page no 16 of Grammar connect.

PRACTICE

 Discuss the different types of exercise given in Chapter 3 of Grammar

HOME ASSIGNMENT
 Ask students of learn the different rules of conversion of singular into plural.
 Learn various examples given in the book. (Ch 3 of grammar)

SUMMARIZATION of the topic Nouns (meaning, common, proper, collective, singular and plural nouns)

ASSESSMENT through

 Take a test worksheet 11 and 12 from Worksheet spiral.

 ASSESSMENT of NOUNS: Singular and Plural


i) I ate two (apple/apples) in the morning.
ii) She has Many sharp (knife/knives).
iii) There are few (benches/bench) left in the class.
iv) My mother can speak many (language/languages).
v) There are four (men/man) and one (woman/women) in the library.
