Nursing Algorithm Guidelines

The document provides guidelines for an activity where students will develop nursing care algorithms. Students will be grouped according to their course and focus on developing algorithms for assigned high-risk maternal and infant conditions or sick growing children. The algorithms will follow a template that includes the condition title and description, necessary assessments, nursing problems identified, and nursing actions. The group algorithms will be compiled into a magazine to be submitted by a specified deadline for evaluation based on content, resource use, organization, and presentation.

ACTIVITY # 1 GUIDELINES

Activity: Nursing Care Algorithm Development

Description: The nursing care algorithm comprises a set of evidence-based

summarized activities from books and literatures following the nursing
process. This will guide the end-user in the clinical setting in assessing
clients with the said condition and identifying corresponding nursing
problem, and actions that are nursing centered, being incorporated with
collaborative interventions.

Objectives: Develop a nursing care algorithm in concurrence with the

professional course the learner is enrolled with.

Guidelines:

1. The learners are grouped according to their respective sections.

2. Learners enrolled in the Level II course, namely “Care of High Risk
Mothers and

Infants” or NCM 109, will focus on the conditions stipulated by the

prescribed module, with the major concepts:

A. High Risk Mothers

B. High Risk Infants

C. Sick Growing Child

3. . The care algorithm will have a template following:

A. title of the concept
B. name of the condition
C. simple description of the condition
D. necessary assessment
1. Interview
2. Inspection
3. Palpation
4. Percussion
5. Auscultation
4. algorithm of nursing care incorporating the identified nursing problem
and the set of nursing actions as well as necessary diagnostic results.
5. dependent and interdependent nursing actions
6. references and resources on the footnote (APA format)

(refer to an example template below)

7. The care algorithm is on letter size of 8.5” x 11”. The group may wish
to have their preference of font and font size, colors and pictures as
long as the necessary elements of the template is present, being
organized neatly.
8. The set of care algorithms per group will be collated and be complied
to form magazine with a cover page and table of contents.

a. design of the cover page is on the discretion of the group.

9. The group is to submit a copy of the compilation of the care algorithm

by:

1. PDF format through the sandbox’ submission portal

10. The compilation of the nursing care algorithm is a course requirement
during the midterms and is expected to be submitted _____________________

Evaluation Criteria:

*The group that garners the highest grade point average of the nursing care
algorithm compilation will be recommended by the team to the dean of the
college for exhibit.

*A sample output is provided within the sandbox for the reference of each
group.
