Group IV – Law of Dominance
Ask some students to post their output and ask one representative
from each group to present their output.
D. Developing Mastery (Explain)
Ask these questions: What is the Law of Dominance?
How does it differ from the other patterns of inheritance?
Give lecture about the different patterns of inheritance.
E. Application and Generalization (Elaborate)
Board Work:
Using the different patterns of inheritance, predict the possible

1. If a white-colored rabbit pairs with a black-colored rabbit, what is the
color of their offspring considering the Co-dominance pattern of
inheritance?
2. Complete the table of the Blood Type
F. Evaluation
Informal Evaluation
Instructional decision will be based on students’ response in the
elaborate stage.

Genetics is the study of heredity and variation. genotypic ratios of typical Mendelian traits. (Page 14)
The focus of genetics research shifted to understanding what really
happens in the transmission of hereditary traits from parents to
children. A number of hypotheses were suggested to explain heredity,
but Gregor Mendel, a little known Central European monk, was the
only one who got it more or less right. Through the selective cross-
breeding of common pea plants (Pisum sativum) over many
generations, Mendel discovered that certain traits show up in offspring
without any blending of parent characteristics. For instance, the pea
flowers are either purple or white--intermediate colors do not appear in
the offspring of cross-pollinated pea plants. Mendel observed seven
traits that are easily recognized and apparently only occur in one of
two forms.
E. Application and Generalization (Elaborate)

and write down the traits that are with yours. Which member of the
family do you have more similarities? Less similarities? What may be
the factors that determine the similarities of your traits?
