GENDER AND SOCIETY

NAME: Romy R. Castañeda SECTION: BSEd 2D – Mathematics

DIRECTIONS: Answer the Following Questions:

1. What are the critical attributes of 21st Century Education?

These are the critical attributes of the 21st Century Education. First of all, this is
what we call INTEGRATED AND INTERDISCIPLINARY. This critical attribute
talks about how teachers should imply and execute a topic to all students, from
their plans to their ways of discussing the lesson, and since it is better for the
students to learn more. For instance, teachers could link arts and English subject
in one activity, since being creative in making stories and poetries, and they can
call some pieces an art of emphasizing the lesson behind that piece they have
made. The second one is TECHNOLOGIES AND MULTIMEDIA. Everyone is
very integrated with the use of computers, gadgets, or any social media, that’s
why this critical attribute will also help them to make use of these technologies
and multimedia for better presentation of their topic and for better knowledge of
the students. For better and creative presentation, teachers could use laptops to
make powerpoint presentations are their means of teaching. The third one is the
GLOBAL CLASSROOM. Globalization is all about the respect for every people
with different gender, age, religion, ethnicity, race, and cultural diversity, so it
means that teachers should emphasize the use of equality, wherein they should
check whether there are different people inside their class and be careful in what
words they have to say. The fourth one is CREATING/ADAPTING TO
CONSTANT PERSONAL AND SOCIAL CHANGE, AND LIFELONG LEARNING.

Students have this goal to graduate and to have new knowledge they have
learned from their teachers, as a future teacher, I should also have this goal
which is that students need not just to pass the exams or quizzes, but also to
apply their knowledge for their future applications, just like Mathematics, which
they can use in businesses and building stable buildings, and also to connect
themselves in the real-life situations, because everything you see here has a
connection with Mathematics. The fifth one is STUDENT-CENTERED. As they
can sense, students are the center of school, which means students have that
right to learn at school and do what they want in order to apply their knowledge in
their real life and participate in the activities that can react to their grades. That’s
why teachers have to act as their second parents, which is that they should be
the guide for the students to grow more with their impactful knowledge for their
own life and for their own future. The sixth one is the 21ST CENTURY SKILLS,
and this is what we need as we enter the educational society. A person’s level of
intelligence was also based on these 21 st Century skills that we need to apply in
our real-life situation. We need this as we enter every sections of our life,
especially in schools and work. The seventh one is PROJECT-BASED AND
RESEARCH-DRIVEN. Teachers need to do some research on how to make
some activities resourceful and creative in order for them to make it like they love
it either within or outside the campus. Since we have to get more ideas and more
information for our discussions to be more reliable and more resourceful, we
need this attribute as a guide for us to blend well our teaching in different lessons.
The last one is RELEVANT, RIGOROUS, AND REAL-WORLD. Teachers need
to be active on how the current trends are working right now and always connect
them to their discussion for a better presentation.

2. Explain how you integrate 21st century Education in the curriculum.

With the use of Traditional Literacy, we just need to speak, listen, read, write, and
have critical thinking for us to learn, but in 21 st Century Skill, we just need to add
that aspect in order to create more knowledge and apply this in our real-life
situation. To integrate 21st century Education in the curriculum, I think we could
adjust ourselves in teaching with the use of technologies for the students to
engage more in learning with them. With the use of gadgets, we can explore
anything and teach them how we use it, or explain to them the lesson we need to
share with the use of these technologies, just like powerpoint presentations,
video presentation, and other ones. We can also think of any activities that could
enhance their 21st Century Skills and take charge of their abilities for them to use
in their future scenarios, just like those activities with the use of physical
movements, confidence, and communication. Groupings would be one of that.
Any group activities will help them in order to portray their knowledge with this
activity to their real life. We need collaboration to improve their interaction with
everyone.

3. What activities can help learners enhance their 21st Century skills?

We all know how activities can help us in our real-life situation, and it is our might
to be more productive and be more confident in sharing with them. In every
activity, we can improve our 21st century Skills if we try our best and trust
ourselves to make this successful. One activity I can share is REPORTING.
Reporting is that activity in which we are tasked to report the assigned topic in
front of everyone, and it is more of groupings than individual task. In reports, we
are assigned to different groups and we have our own rights on whom to prepare
and whom to report, and with this, we can enhance our collaboration and

communication to interact with everyone with our voice as a teacher. Also, we

have this activity which is called as an ACT or PLAY. With our creativity, we can
make some stories or just act a story we are assigned to and the group will act it
on stage and even in front of everyone. We can help ourselves justify our
confidence and trust and make it possible to act in front of many people.
