Advise
Interview room/hall is far from the entrance gate. If you have problem walking (as in my
case due to fracture) please opt for Wheelchair and get the permission for the person who
is going to escort you. Need to drop an email to US consulate in advance. I struggled to walk

I am happy as my VISA got approved. I want to thank everyone at I20 Fever, KPHB for your guidance and
assistance. Attending Mock interviews helped me out.
However, I am sharing my VISA Experience here.
On the day of interview, waiting in line i have absorbed many students coming out with GREEN sheet in
hand. So, I realized that it’s gonna be tough and made myself strong to face rejection.
After waiting for one-hour I got counter no 13. I was third person before the counter.
Luck favours me here, I met the officer who taking Interview during the visa orientation session held at
American corner, Begumpet. It made easy for me to face Him.
Someone from side came and took my I20 and Passport from me and gave to VO when he taking
interview for girl before me.
Now It’s my turn. The overall interview happened for less than 90 Seconds.

11th May was my interview.
My appointment time was 9:30AM, I reached there by 8 AM
BY 8:30AM i was asked to stand in a queue for a document check to enter the gates.
At 8:45AM i entered the gates and was asked to sit in the chairs before going to a security check. Within
few minutes i was asked to go in, surprisingly the security asked me to remove my belt also during the
check.
Once again, they sent me to another waiting area where i waited for half hour and finally they asked a
bunch of us to go to 7th counter. Our finger prints were cross checked.
Now another queue
Then, got a card that said 14 and the lady guided me to 14th booth.
The INTERVIEW

i reached to the booth no 14 and there were already two parties waiting for interview before me.
First party got rejected and the second family was going to visit their son's graduation ceremony, they
got the visa approved.
Finally, my turn. I saw the lady in the booth on the other side of the glass

Before the interview:

Got verified whether I have all the documents by i20 fever personnel
I have taken two mock tests from two different people.
Feedback and counseling helped to prep for interview
Prepared short one –two word answers for i20fever questionnaire given to improvise later
Practiced few answers like subjects in curriculum, values of tuition fee, income, turn over Etc
Slept early, woke up early had light breakfast, wore formals and reached 1 hour early to
scheduled time and called into building 45min before the scheduled time.

I was the fourth guy in the queue all three got rejected.

Me: yes sir, I have got a loan of about 25lakhs from KVB.

VO: This letter states that your loan has been principally sanctioned. How can we believe that you would
get the amount from the bank?
Me: Sir, in the terms and conditions it is mentioned that loan gets activated once the visa gets approved
and they will release it in a phased manner.
VO: What if they not sanction you the loan due to any other unexpected reasons?
Me: Even in such case, I have got enough amounts of savings to bear my living and tuition expenses for 2
years. The intention behind taking the loan was to couple me with some responsibility to get a good job.

When I went inside there was one girl being interviewed and one was waiting before me.
Something went wrong and I suddenly noticed that she was rejected and the VO looked furious. This
started some intense nervousness in me.

When I went inside there was one boy being interviewed for F1 and I was after him and later people
joined after me. he was asked bank statements by VO for verification. Just after the person in front of
me was being interviewed, one of the personnel collected my passport andi20 and gave them to Vo
while looking into the documents called me to come to the counter and they are writing something on
the yellow sticky notes for a while I thought I might be issued yellow slip: P and then those people were
resolving a technical issue and trying to solve it. Then the person left and handed my passport and Vo
was cross verifying my passport i20 scrolled through my complete book and screen

Vo: good morning.
Vo: So, Y GSU?
Me: The course curriculum matches with that of my interest and the research training course as a part
of
Curriculum and GSU has renowned professors of my specialization (She interrupted)
Vo: when did you graduate?
Me: In 2013 Mam
VO: what are you doing since then?
Me: I worked in XXX Company and now working in YYY company as software engineering analyst.
VO: what is your undergraduate percentage?
Me: 83.94%
Vo: great

I was little tensed before the interview but by the time interview started I gained energy and it was a

fire and I could present well answering to the point at VO comfort level and also don’t get panic when

My visa slot was at 9:00 am Hyderabad. I was there by 8:00. They allowed me at 8:05. After all the
security checks. I was given my counter number at 8:55. I went in and the visa officer was a young man
around 33. He can speak fluent telugu as well.

VO: Good morning, pass me ur documents.
Me: while passing I’ve asked how are you doing sir.
Vo: I'm fine. What about you.
Me. I'm doing good sir. Thank you.
Vo: is this ur first time?
Me: yes, sir it is my first time.
