Task 1: Look at the excerpt from the dialog below. Pay attention to the bold
typed expressions.

Aisyah : So, what about you, Ibrahim? Do you have any plans?

Ibrahim : Definitely! My dad and I are going to gardening. We plan to go


gardening in a garden near my house. Would you like to come with us?

Maryam : I don’t really like gardening. I would rather stay at home that go
gardening. What about you, Aisyah? What would you like to do on the long
weekend?

Aisyah : I have made a plan with my mother about what to do on this long
weekend. We are going to practice making tapioca chips.

Ibrahim : Are you going to make tapioca chips with balado flavor like the
other day?

Aisyah : Well, yes. That id my favorite. But we are going to try to make
barbeque and corn flavor too.

Aisyah : Oh, would you like to join me to learn making tapioca chips?
You can come to my house.

Ibrahim : It’s a good idea! Or will you go gardening with me and my dad?

Maryam : Uhm, not gardening I guess. But I think I would like to make

*Note: In daily life, it is common for us to tell other people about our intention or plan to do
something in the future. WE also frequently ask them, or they ask us about that. For telling
our intention or plan, we can use be going to + simple form of the verb and would like to +
simple form of the verb, and we use the statement form. For asking, we use the question
form. Read again the dialog among Aisyah, Ibrahim, and Maryam in this chapter to see how
the expressions are used in conversations.
