III.i
[KI1] In lines 2 and 3, Banquo is doing a soliloquy about his thought of Macbeth becoming the
thane. Banquo says that he suspects that Macbeth had cheated and had done foul play to win
the title of king.

[KI7] Another person that macbeth wants to have killed is Banquo. He wants to kill Banquo so
that the section of witches' prophecy in which it states that Banquo's children would be king. He
did this so that he could prolong his time as king and with power.

III.ii
[CS1] Snakes usually symbolize cunningness or deceitfulness. It’s relevant in this case for
Macbeth since he now became a snake who is lying to the people and other nobles that he
rightfully became king. The purpose was to show irony since Macbeth, who’s acting like a
snake, is using a snake as a metaphor.

III.iii
[KI2] While Banquo is being killed by the murderers, he tells his son Fleance to run away. He
tells him that he can take revenge on Macbeth later if he survives.

[KI3] The stage directions on line 151 foreshadow the eventual betrayal to Macbeth from all the
lords. It shows the lords leaving Macbeth and lady Macbeth, which is what they do in the war

[KI1] Hecate is mad at the witches because they told riddles about Macbeth’s future without
telling her.

[KI4] Lennox hopes that the ordeal will end in the quick removal of Macbeth from power. He
wants this so that the tyranny on the people of the kingdom.

IV.i
[KI2] The second apparition is that of a Bloody child and tells Macbeth that nobody born from a
woman will harm or kill him. This is a reassuring message because everybody is born from a
woman, so this tells him that nobody shall hurt or kill him.

IV.ii
[KI3] The messenger tells Lady Macduff to flee because she and her son are in danger. They
are told that people are coming to kill them, and that they should escape.

IV.iii
[KI7] Macduff feels now that it is his duty to get vengeance for the death of his wife and kids. He
of course is grieving their deaths and wishes for heaven to let them rest peacefully.
