‘School’s Narrative Report on Follow-up Orientation

Meeting and Distribution of Modules ’
Barangay Madadamian Purok 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7

We all know the old adage: Patience is a virtue. But it’s true! Patience can help us
achieve our goals. Goals, that even the pandemic didn’t succeed to turn it down. And
as the saying goes “If you really want to do something you’ll find a way”( Jim Rohn ),
and that is the way of Department of education to succeed to be patient and find a lot
of ways to give continuous learning for the students.

As part of the formal opening of classes scheduled on October 5, 2020, Imelda

R. Marcos High School-Main conducted a clustered Follow-up Orientation Meeting
and distributed Self Learning Modules (SLMs) and Learning Activity Sheets (LASs) to
parents of learners last September 15, 2020 among its feeder barangays.

Barangay Madadamian was only one of the host barangays in which meeting
was made. Purok 1, 2,3 & 4 were met from 8:30 to 9:30 AM., while parents from
Purok 5, 6 &7 of the host barangay followed at 9:30 to 10:30 AM. This event was
done considering the allowed maximum number of participants and following safety
health protocols such as wearing of face mask.

The event started with the reminding health protocols, customary greetings and
preliminaries and eventually continued with the follow-up orientation meeting. Roles
of parents during this time of pandemic were reiterated to them. They were even more
reminded on how indispensable it is for them to guide and monitor their children in
order for them to learn well and cope up with the new mode of learning. Moreover,
the process of weekly distribution of learning materials and retrieval of envelopes
were clearly discussed to parents together with the present barangay kagawads. The
materials contained in the envelopes were even briefly explained to parents so that
they can easily guide their children when classes formally started. These were the
necessary things brought during the meeting which taken only less than an hour. After
which, the distribution of modules followed. Parents were instructed to come in front
if their son/daughter name called by the teacher in front. Facilitators used colored
envelopes to facilitate ease in the distribution and probably up to the retrieval later on.
They also provided checklist to ensure that all were properly recorded. There were
slight problems encountered during the distribution like missing names of students
and mislabeled envelopes which were solved and given solutions in the end. So far,
giving of modules was made smoothly since everyone followed well instructions
given to them. It is believed that 80% of the modules assigned to the cluster were
distributed to parents of learners during the meeting while the remaining 20% were
being coordinated to barangay officials so that all students will receive learning access
by 5th of October.

At the 2nd quarter of SLMs/LAS distribution and retrieval we followed the

process that we used in 1st quarter, where one of the parent volunteered that he will be
the one to pick up and submit the modules at the school, and the barangay officials of
Madadamian agreed to share gas fare for the transportation and as we observed the
modules distributed smoothly to the learners by the effort of everyone.

And by these we, together with the parents and learners, are assured that in
DepEd, “Walang batang maiiwan!”

As one can witness, though classes is not the same with the previous years,
DepEd is not being confine, at rest in a corner, instead, it tries to plan, devices better
ways and continues what has been started- from the reproduction, packaging, up to the
distribution of modules. It only proves that DepEd’s desire to continuously provide
education amidst covid-19 crisis is really commendable. Indeed, parents and students
can expect quality education from IRMHS and from the DepEd!
