Reflection 1 ED 250

Teachers are the Key runners in the classroom if a teacher enjoys his/her teaching time (or
having a career as a teacher) the curriculum will be well planned or organized. As an ECE
teacher I have learnt that setting out learning curriculum is very important. Curriculum
practitioners are the teachers in the classroom who implement the curriculum. It is obvious
that a well-planned person know what to do and how to do.

Keeping in mind that we teachers help children gain various kinds of skills from the
activities we provide, everything should be planned and done according to the level of
understanding each child has. During our Group discussion Ranjeeta Singh said that it
depends on us teachers on how constructive the learning journey of our students become in
future which of cause depends on those times they spend listening to us, learning and
growing with us and most importantly observing us. Then Manjula said that when we as
teachers provide lessons and activities accordingly in order to make student a better person
in terms of formal, informal education or teaching them lifelong skills, we are producing a
smart bunch of students which will help them have bright future. This is where our
teaching philosophy comes in.

During our ED 250 workshop, few points which I noted while the discussion was going on,
was that, “How we educators” prioritise our time with students regardless of the students
learning abilities or capabilities which determines their developmental progress through
education. Young learners are also known as “fast catches” which simply means they learn
things quickly wherefore we as educators need to be mindful of what we teach and how we
teach.

One main point that I learnt in unit 7 was about classroom rules. Children safety is our
priority. When rules are set, students learn to behave, we as teachers must provide safety
rules before any activities to be sue enough that students will have ideas of what to do and
what not do, safety rules are also part of the lesson plans. During our ED 250 workshop
Mrs whippy gave brief explanation of what all is expected by us as ECE teachers during the
planning of our Micro teaching.
In unit one I learned that Curriculum integration which is well planned by practitioner, when it
comes to Learning it occurs in many different ways and through many different senses depending
on a teacher’s ability and teaching skills in all schools accordingly. Some children learn better by
listening, others learn better by seeing, and still others learn better by doing. Rarely is someone only
an auditory or visual learner. Most people, including children, learn best from a combination of all
these approaches. Teachers should be able to provide young learners with many different ways of
learning. Teachers are similar to architects or designers because they have responsibilities for
building or designing settings and curriculum that help children learn and grow into productive
citizens. Knowing a teachers capability while taking this course I am forever grateful to choose this
career path.

To conclude, a child’s learning cannot be determined through assuming things, it’s

assessed/monitored by teachers keeping in mind the development process, each child are
different, and comes from different family back ground. It’s always on a teacher hand.
