An Argumentative Essay

Capital punishment involves legally authorized death as punishment for a crime. While most nations have abolished it, over 60% of the world's population live in countries that retain the death penalty. The document argues that death sentences should be activated everywhere for several reasons. It has been used historically and was often the only deterrent when prison systems were not developed. However, some argue against it because innocent people may be executed or that lifetime labor and torture are better punishments than death for major crimes. In the end, there are reasonable arguments on both sides and whether it should be used depends on the specific crime.

Death sentence should be activated in every country of the world

An Argumentative Essay

Capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, is a government-sanctioned practice whereby a
person is put to death by the state as a punishment for a crime. Crimes that are punishable by death are
known as capital crimes, capital offences or capital felonies, and vary depending on the jurisdiction, but
commonly include serious offences such as murder, mass murder, rape, terrorism or genocide. Although
most nations have abolished capital punishment, over 60% of the world's population live in countries
where the death penalty is retained.

There are many reasons why death penalty should be practiced everywhere. Throughout history it was
legal and normal. Execution of criminals and dissidents has been used by nearly all societies since the
beginning of civilizations on Earth. Until the nineteenth century, without developed prison systems,
there was frequently no workable alternative to ensure deterrence and incapacitation of criminals. One
could say it is a natural way of punishing individuals who did very unethical and immoral crimes, and
simply does not deserve to keep leading his or hers life as every other person.

Arguments against would be that 1.)the accused one could be proven to be innocent after his execution
and then there is no way to repay a life of the innocent. 2.)people who are proven to have done such
capital crimes should not even be graced enough to die – they should be sentenced to heavy labour for
the rest of their lives and even tortured (depening on how big the crime was).

In summary, capital punishment was practiced and was shown as practical, but every crime case varies
so we can not say with certainty if it should be abolished or not – it simply depends of how bad the case
is.
