Synopsis: ‘Strings’ is a short film written and directed by Pedro Solís García. ‘Strings’ was the 2014
winner of the the Goya ® award for ‘the Best Spanish short film animation’.
Director’s bio: PEDRO SOLÍS (Barcelona, SPAIN, 10/15/1968) comes from the video game world, in
which he has developed different tasks. He has worked from 3D Artist to co-producer on several
titles for PC and consoles.
Is there a strong personal inspiration which lies behind the movie?
Without a doubt! This story was inspired by my daughter Alejandra and her behavior with her
brother Nicolás. Nicolás is my youngest son. He suffers severe cerebral palsy due to a lack of oxygen
when he was born. This situation stops him from doing the basic things of a child. He can’t eat by
himself, can’t walk nor talk; he is just like the main character in ‘Cuerdas’. Despite this situation
Alejandra has always played with him with affection and imagination and was his greatest stimulus
even now that she is nineteen years old and Nicolás twelve.
What can you say about the connection between teaching and our personal background?
I think that teaching is one of the most important professions because teachers can directly
influence in the education of children and their training. I have always thought that they should feel
very proud when they see their students grow up because a part of every one of these adults is due
to their job.
In the case of special education the situation is different, the teachers, such as those my son has,
never know exactly what part of their job really influences and helps them, but that does not
discourage them. That is the reason why I think that special education teachers deserve
extraordinary merit. And that is the reason why Maria become one of them.
Are children more able to understand the diversity? Or is Maria an exception?
I think children do not come into existence with prejudices. In my opinion these appear by
involuntary imitation of adults’ behavior. This underlines the relevance of a good education with a
strong emphasis on values. These human values can make the eldest kids keep on behaving like
Maria.
Some time ago I received a touching message from a teacher, in which he told me that in his school
there was a child in a wheelchair who was always alone at school recess, but his school mates no
longer left this child alone after watching ‘Cuerdas’. It is the most beautiful thing that can happen to
a creator, to realize how his work positively influences future generations.
Maria is the example of how our new generation must develop. She represents some kind of hope
for all of us because she turns the ropes into an ally to fight for integration, an ally to prove that
another school and another education is possible: a school without prejudices, where all the
educational community and especially our students could live with values such as integration,
diversity, mutual respect and solidarity.

Biografi sutradara: PEDRO SOLÍS (Barcelona, SPANYOL, 10/15/1968) berasal dari dunia video game,

sembilan belas tahun dan dua belas Nicola.
Apa yang dapat Anda katakan tentang hubungan antara mengajar dan latar belakang pribadi kita?
Saya pikir mengajar adalah salah satu profesi paling penting karena guru dapat secara langsung
memengaruhi pendidikan anak-anak dan pelatihan mereka. Saya selalu berpikir bahwa mereka
harus merasa sangat bangga ketika mereka melihat murid-murid mereka tumbuh karena sebagian
dari setiap orang dewasa ini adalah karena pekerjaan mereka.
Dalam hal pendidikan khusus situasinya berbeda, para guru, seperti yang dimiliki putra saya, tidak
pernah tahu persis bagian mana dari pekerjaan mereka yang benar-benar memengaruhi dan
membantu mereka, tetapi itu tidak membuat mereka patah semangat. Itulah alasan mengapa saya
berpikir bahwa guru pendidikan khusus pantas mendapat prestasi luar biasa. Dan itulah alasan
mengapa Maria menjadi salah satu dari mereka.
Apakah anak-anak lebih mampu memahami perbedaan? Atau apakah Maria pengecualian?
Saya pikir anak-anak tidak muncul dengan prasangka. Menurut pendapat saya ini muncul dengan
meniru perilaku orang dewasa. Ini menggarisbawahi relevansi pendidikan yang baik dengan
penekanan kuat pada nilai-nilai. Nilai-nilai kemanusiaan ini dapat membuat anak tertua tetap
berperilaku seperti Maria.
Beberapa waktu yang lalu saya menerima pesan yang menyentuh dari seorang guru, di mana dia
mengatakan kepada saya bahwa di sekolahnya ada seorang anak di kursi roda yang selalu sendirian
di jam sekolah, tetapi teman-teman sekolahnya tidak lagi meninggalkan anak ini sendirian setelah
menonton 'Cuerdas ' Ini adalah hal yang paling indah yang dapat terjadi pada pencipta, untuk
menyadari bagaimana karyanya memengaruhi generasi masa depan secara positif.
Maria adalah contoh bagaimana generasi baru kita harus berkembang. Dia mewakili semacam
harapan bagi kita semua karena dia mengubah tali menjadi sekutu untuk memperjuangkan integrasi,
sekutu untuk membuktikan bahwa sekolah lain dan pendidikan lain adalah mungkin: sekolah tanpa
prasangka, di mana semua komunitas pendidikan dan terutama siswa kami bisa hidup dengan nilai-
nilai seperti integrasi, keragaman, saling menghormati dan solidaritas.

animación por La Bruxa (2011) y Cuerdas (2014).

Biografía Editar
Aunque nace en Barcelona, su familia se traslada a vivir a Guadalajara cuando él cuenta con tres
años de edad. Es en esta ciudad donde desarrolla sus estudios de grado superior de técnico
electrónico.[1]
Siempre atraído por el mundo de la animación y la tecnología dedica largas noches a aprender el
manejo del modelado en 3D. En el año 1998 decide cambiar la estabilidad de un puesto fijo para
lanzarse trabajar en el sector del videojuego, en el que ha desarrollado diferentes tareas, siendo
desde artista 3D a co-productor en numerosos títulos para PC y consolas.
El salto al cine lo da de la mano del personaje Tadeo Jones, al colaborar en el diseño de escenarios
en los cortos de animación Tadeo Jones y Tadeo Jones y el sótano maldito de Enrique Gato.
En el año 2008 comienza una nueva andadura como Director de Producción en Lightbox
Entertainment, donde colabora en títulos como “Las aventuras de Tadeo Jones” en 2012,[2] la
aventura espacial “Atrapa la bandera” (2015) y la secuela del éxito del 2012 "Tadeo Jones 2: El
secreto del Rey Midas” (2017), distribuidas internacionalmente por Paramount Pictures.
La Bruxa, su primera película, como director y guionista, fue galardonada con el Premio Goya 2011 al
Mejor Cortometraje de Animación[3] y algunos otros premios importantes.
Cuerdas es su segundo cortometraje como guionista y director. Con él ha conseguido el Premio Goya
2014 al Mejor cortometraje de Animación[4] y un amplio número de premios y reconocimientos
entre los que destaca el “Guinness World Record” al cortometraje de animación más premiado de la
historia.[5]

Cuerdas es un cortometraje de animación español, escrito y dirigido por Pedro Solís García y
producido por La fiesta P.C. Obtuvo el Premio Goya.[1] Es el segundo premio Goya recibido por su
director tras recibir el mismo galardón por su cortometraje La Bruxa, en el año 2011.[2]
