GUERRERO
I. Inspirational lines from the movie. And short explanations.
1. Be patient. - Stay calm even if we are waiting forever or dealing with
something painstakingly.
2. A truly brave person knows how to hold back. – A real man smiles in
trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows.
3. “Ang pagkunsinte ay hindi tunay na pagmamahal.” – Love and tolerance
are not the same.
4. True heroes always lose at the start. – It is advising us to be patient with
all the struggles we are facing, because not all heroes win very first
battle. Great heroes endure all the battle and give a great fight.
5. “Wala naman akong magagawa, galingan mo na lang.” (“I can’t do
anything with your decision, just win the game.”) – This is what Ramon’s
mother told him. These words manifest how Filipino parents love and
support their children.
6. Be strong. There’s a reason why you’re still alive. – God is giving us
problems that He knows we can overcome. We must live our life with
the purpose that we have given.
7. If you feel pain and sadness, it’s a proof that you’re alive. – To live is to
overcome the pain that life is throwing us.
8. Life isn’t about getting knocked out, but about starting again. – There
are many struggles that we are facing, but always remember that those
struggles are given to us because God knows we can overcome them.
Every battle has an end, and we must start over again regardless if we
won or lose.
9. Be positive. – Always be confident. If you are positive about things, you
are hopeful and confident. And it will give you a good fight.
10. Not all fights are the same. Sometimes it’s between hearts and minds. –
We always need to balance every fight life is throwing us. We should
always consider what our minds and hearts are telling us.
11. You may want to back out, but you must carry on. – Even if we feel like
giving up, we should still stay strong and keep going.
II. Short geez of the movie
The movie is about the story of Ramon Guerrero, a boxer, who faces life’s
triumphs and failures with sheer determination and help from his brother
Miguel.
Ramon won his very first battle in boxing via knock out. His opponent asked
for a rematch of their fight, and Ramon agrees to it. Before their fight, his
mother showed him her support and asked him to do his best.
During the rematch, Ramon got knocked out and was comatose for five
years. When he woke up, he’s looking for his mother and brother, but they
were gone. He met his girlfriend Abby, but she is now married. He found
out from his coach that his mother died, and that he hasn’t seen his brother
Miguel for a very long time.
Ramon was determined to find where his brother was and reunite with him.
III. Finish the movie
If I would be able to finish the movie, I will give it a happy ending for the
Guerrero brothers. Ramon will be reunited with his brother Miguel. Ramon
will become a successful gym trainer, since they just put up the gym again.
Miguel also a successful one, continuing his studies and a scholar. He may
become a poet, a writer or an actor. I think Miguel has that talent when he
wrote a poem for his brother.
IV. Lessons learned from the movie
Love of a family is genuine.
- Even if Ramon’s mother is against with him doing boxing, she still
supported him with his passion. This makes Ramon more focused and
determined to win. This shows that love of a parent is one of kind. They
always support their children even if it was hurting them. Also, the love
of brothers Ramon and Miguel to each other is one of a kind. A love from
a family is unconditional.
Life is not about getting knocked out, but about starting again.
- This is what the movie Guerrero is relaying to us. Life is full of struggles
that we need and must overcome. It’s not just about winning, but also
how we win the battles. Don’t be discouraged, keep pursuing our
dreams, no matter how impossible it may seem. Have faith in yourself
especially in God. Keep going, growing and taking the chances.
