I. Introduction to Apportionment
In this lesson, I learned different methods of apportionment such as
Hamilton method, Huntington-Hill number and Fairness measurement.
Apportionment is a method of dividing a whole into various parts. In a democratic
form of government, apportionment is essential to ensure equality of
representation. It will able to determine the appropriate number of representative
that a state, country or other subdivision should have. Hamilton method is based
on standard divisor and standard quota of the population. Huntington-Hill method
used when there is a need to add one item to one of the several groups in a
population, then the additional add item is given to the highest Huntington-hill
number. While fairness measurement used to measure the fairness of an
apportionment.
