Opening of VSU Intramurals 2019
Intramurals is a competition of athlets every year in a respective schools or universities. It
also happening within or involving the members of one school in order to achieve a main goal.
This is a week that competes all athletes and coaches in a respective schools or universities. It
also formed in an individual category or group category according to the specific sports and
dance competition like playing basketball, tennis, soccer, pop dance, table tennis and other sports
and dance competition. Without this event, we can’t achieve anything that we want.
The intramurals was happening on September 17, 2019 at VSU lower oval. And later on,
I was much expected that this intramurals is the biggest achievements that I never seen in my
life because it can give you happiness and enjoying your classmates and other friends while
parade. But unfortunately, I was happy and enjoy the whole intramurals. It was started with a
parade of every team which composed of 15 teams associated with the four teams came from
VSU main campus. The four teams are the Guardians, Centaurs, Mighty Orthrus and lastly
Sylvan Dragons. The parade was started at lower oval of VSU and I was feel good at this
moment. Even though it is very hot, still I enjoyed it. Some teams that sends any ballon that
leads the parade more beautiful and more powerful. I feel happy when I watched the ballons
while parade. I saw everybody enjoying their respective teams and cheering for the achievements
of every targets. All of the teams wants to win every game and win overall this VSU intramurals
2019. But only one team who achieve the championship overall over this week. I was believe
that my team will win in this competition and achieve every goals.

During the parade, there are many big moments together with my friends and take a
picture at the time. After that, when the parade is almost done, everybody wants to cheer early
thier own respective teams and how they compete their respective opponents. During the
introduction of intramurals, while
every team was called in the announcer, everybody cheering and shouting their own teams in
order to achieve what they want. When my teams are called, everybody still cheering because it
represents you and your teammates are like a family. While sitting on the ground, the teams told
us that there is a snack and then we enjoy it. I can see the beauty of oval while watching
intramurals. Later on, the VSU performs their beautiful dances. On that moment, I feel proud as
a VSU students because I already enjoy in this university twice. Nothing will easy for me and us
when it comes to competition.
After the dances was performed, a fireworks display was started. It is very beautiful and
very nice when I was saw a fireworks. At the end of the opening day, I was enjoyed overall and I
realized we need to enjoy this moment every time.

Reflection Paper
VSU Songfest
Songfest is an informal session of group singing of popular or folk songs. It also
competitions that people sing formally. After the opening, on later evening VSU held a program
which we called songfest. This songfest was been attended by the 15 teams. In this night my
girlfriend broke me up. When the songfest started the first song I've heard was the “Ikaw Lang”.
When the lyrics and the tone started to play " ikaw lang, ikaw lang akong higugmaon", it tears
me apart and apart. I did not notice that my tears started to fells down, so I decided to go outside
for a deep medication, to make my senses to calm down. So it successfully calm up.

And when the second competitor sang Pasabta ko, it make cry for a moment and I let it
on I did not mind the persons who can see me. Although I am at the outside of the gym I loudly
heard the lyrics, it was my moment that I need to face the fears in my life. It makes me away
from the reality, and feels the pain that I did not feel the same as before. The pain was inside of
me, I know it will not be healed by any medications.
And the third song was sung in titled "Bisan pa". My bisayan favorite song, at this
moment I had a companion, which is Juliet my cousin. It's very a shameful if I will cry in her
front, so I decided to divert my interest into memes on Facebook to avoid my tears to push out in
my eyes. Together with reading memes I also frequently chat with my friends to lessen my
attention on that song, even though it is my favorite song.
The fourth song was sung in titled Atik ra. This song rejuvenates me and makes me away
from crying, because of the tone. I also like the singer who sang it because it is very clear to
hear. So I finished on hearing the sounds come out to his small mouth.
The song fest moved on to other category the duet. In this area I feel bored and a little
sleepy. So I did not focus my attention on it, instead I focused on my phone. Three duets
performed but I did not feel it . Three song was intitled Hain kaman karun, pobreng alindahaw ,
and hain kaman karun.
In this time it was a bit late, I came up to find out what time is about on that moment. In
going there I realized that bisayan broken songs are made up by the composer of that song was
broken hearted on that time. It is very connecting to audience's feelings when you wrote it with
experience. So in this moment it ends up with happiness and enjoying every moment.

VSU Softball games
Softball is a modified form of baseball played on a smaller field with a larger ball, seven
rather than nine innings, and underarm pitching. When it was happening on September 18,
2019.Intramural games started on this day, and on this day I decided to watch the games of
Sylvan Dragons versus Isabel, since we all know softball played by girls. So I ask my friend one
of the players of Sylvan Dragons if what time their game will be started. When I knew that it is
about 7:00 AM in the morning, I prepared myself earlier as I do. When I arrived at the field I saw
the Sylvan Dragons started to heat up. They performed warm ups and drills. So lucky for me for
a pervert minded person. When it is about 7:15 if I am not mistaken, their game started. At first
inning Sylvan dragons will be the attacker and the Isabel will be the defender. In that time batter
of the Sylvan can't hit clearly the ball. It is very clear that it is because they are a girl who does
not have firm muscles. So the innings for Sylvan Dragons end up with nothing. And now the
Sylvans will defend and have a pitch with the game. I remember on that time when my
playmates in baseball sometimes said " the pitcher controls everything , the more he/she make
the batter strike out ,the more they have the chance to win". When I saw the pitcher of the
Centaurs, I cheered up, even though I am Centaurs I cheered up for the Sylvan Dragons. And
luckily after that inning for Isabel, Sylvan dragons defend well. On that time my friend stayed at
the bench, so I was only watching her cheering up his mates. Here we go the third inning, the
Sylvan serve as the batter and the attacker of the base. In this inning unluckily they got nothing.
They fall into caught out. After four innings the score remain zero. So I've decided to watch
another game because it’s a kind of boring moments. So I go to the basketball and volleyball
area. I watched the Basketball women, mighty Orthrus basketball women versus Sylvian
dragons. Mighty Orthrus win. I also watched Sylvian dragons versus Centaurs mens basketball

and Centaurs win. And watched Guardians versus Centaurs women basketball. After that I've
decided to go to attendance area to sign up for attendance since the VSU implement fines if you
did not attend Intramurals. So I've got to that area and successfully got the attendance. Hour later
I decided with my friends to buy Ice cream, so we buy and in that moment I feel tired because of
the heat of the sun. So I told my friends that I will go back to house to have some nap. Hours
passed my friend who played at softball that I've watched earlier noticed me that they failed to
will up and she got injured. And there will be another game at 6:00 Pm for them. It is the end of
my first day of Intramural games. In this day I've enjoyed a lot watching games rather than
playing.
I realized in this day that it is too difficult to be and athlete because it needs your time, and
energy. You should be passionate also to it in order to result a good outcome and to become
happy of what you've been doing.

VSU Mens games
800 Meter Run
Running is the way in which people or animals travel quickly on their feet. It creates
stamina and an ability to show the activeness of every person. When it was happening September
17, 2019, 800 meter run for men was launched. In this game my classmate Ryan Jade Rufila was
one of the contenders. It may be difficult for the contestants because 800 meter run is about 2
rounds of running in the oval. All you need is stamina and speed in order to surpass and win. I
saw them stretched themselves in order to make their body prepared and to avoid cramps. After
an hour it maybe about 10:00Am the game was started, I don't see clearly the other contestants.
All I see clearly is my classmate wearing Centaurs shirt.

And finally it started, at first my classmate was on the 2nd spot. But then as the meter run
goes intense he may be on the fourth to 5th place. After 1 round nothing change, I see other
contestants lose their stamina. While the other are continuing together with my classmate. After
two rounds, my classmate place at 4rth. It maybe not as good but he surpassed it without any
problems, so I salute him.
I realized in this game that it is hard to be an athlete because of the tiredness and
pressure. I also realized that once you started you must finish it just like my classmate did, even
though it is very hard ahead through it you must be brave not only for yourself but to those who
believe in you. I realized that runs are just life it is not about how fast you finished it, but to the
determination and perseverance you've should that lead you to finish it even though it is not as
much faster.
We can say that our college life is like a game full of challenges and sacrifices but there is
an End and when you finish it even though it's too difficult , it can give you an equivalent
happiness the same as the winner. Because if you deeply think about it, nothing is different
between the winner and the one who finishes it and never surrender, the difference you may
think is the recognition, it's very wrong. Being recognized is good but to finish it even it is hard
is very good. Recognition is made to let you feel more energize to finish it. So if you finish it
nothing would be different as the winner, you did it, it's a great job.

VSU Pageant
Pageant is a public entertainment consisting of a procession of people in elaborate,
colorful costumes, or an outdoor performance of a historical scene. It also a colorful public

procession, show, or ceremony. When it was happening on September 18 2019 at the gymnasium
VSU pageant was held. In this event we will know our Ginoong Malakas and Binibining
Maganda. In this evening I was late to attend the event. So when I vame up it is almost
announcing of winners if I am not mistaken this is the ladder of the winners starting from;
Ginoong Malakas which is Rheyl Mark L. Cabuquing (Sylvan Dragons) and Binibining
Maganda, Ladylyn M. Candela (Guardians) .While the 1st Prince Paul Erick D. Navarro
(Greyhounds) and first Princess Sharon B. O'brien (Centaurs) .Second Prince goes to Fritz
Gerald G. Caranias (Centaurs) and 2nd Princess Antonette S. Barabad (Sylvan Dragons).
After the announcing of winners I am confused because none of the Centaurs got a
second place but it’s okay Centaurs accept defeats.
In this event I realize that even though some says that the importance in a person is
his/her attitude, it is not in pageant. Because pageant judge you by the looks and by your
Intelligence. Without it you can't win. A good heart is not required in this area, but why? It's
because pageant are judge by aesthetic beauty not your inner beauty. Pageant are made for
beautiful, yes maybe since you will always notice that beauty with brain is the most essential
need in this area. It may be unfair but this is the truth. Truth with realization hurts. But if you will
not win in this area it doesn't mean you’re not good. Person in real life are judge through him as
him. Not him through them.

VSU Dancefest
Dancefest is an event in terms of featuring a lot of dancing. It was happening on
September 19, 2019 the second day of VSU Intramurals. In the evening of this day there will be
a Dance competition. I was noticed of one of my block mates that they will perform in that event.

So I went to that event to watch him as he performs. Few weeks before that event I saw them
keep on practicing their dance but it was not as good. So I become more interested if they
practiced very well in these past few days. When I arrived at the gymnasium, the venue of that
event I was wondering when will they perform. And after minutes later, I saw them on the center,
it's the time they will perform. They wear a Centaurs Shirt and Pants, so they look more gradient.
When the beat started and they started to dance, my eyes shocked together with my senses. I am
shocked because there dance is so epic. It is much synchronized; all the steps are done fluently
with an expertise. So I cheered up for them. I feel proud for my blockmate and also to my team
the Centaurs. I did not expect it will be that too much. It is very well performed. After that
presentation I decided to go back to the dorm because I have to eat my dinner.
In this event I realized that practice makes us to grow more than as we think. We will
mesmerize of the things which practice can contribute. Saying is right practice makes perfect.
Yes it is, that event is the prove.
In life we should show perseverance even though we don't know what comes next. We
will just ready ourselves to explore new thing. Because life is a great exploration never stop to
discover things. Like going to practice, maybe you have that talent but you did not enhance it. So
keep on trying the things, even though there are possibilities or not. Just keep on moving and
trying. We will not grow if we don't try things.

VSU Tangram
Tangram on the other hand, is a Chinese geometric puzzle consisting of a square cut into
seven pieces that can be arranged to make various other shapes accoring the dictionary.
In this activity there are many learning’s that feed up to my mind one of that is about

geometry. I learned that any shape can be composing by other shape and any shape can be made
out into other shape when you put that together. Just like a triangle if you combine it, it will form
a square, and if you combine a square it will form a triangle and if you combine two triangles it
will form a square and vice versa. It concludes that a shape is composing by other shape. Another
realization that I get is, I realized that anything in the surrounding is abided by Geometry.
Anything’s that we hold and see are geometry. Things are formed with shapes. Tangram helps me
realize that shape can form anything. I also realized in tangram which has 7 shapes that, it can be
built into different things with the creativity of your mind. By that you can create any possible
things. Even a person walking or running or any gesture can be made through it. Also animals
and different things around us. I also realized that students can learn faster when they engage it.
Like in making projects, it is easy for me as a student to understand the things behind in that
topic if I am engaging on it.

VSU Closing Intramurals
Closing Intramurals is the competition that is officially end of the Intramurals week. Even
thought it is already closing remarks, we need to respect the winners of VSU Intramurals 2019.
At last after three days of the Intramural games finally we will know which team will win in the
VSU 2019 Intramural games. In this closing event I was attend early, so when I arrived the
Emcees was announcing about the winner of Dance and SongFest. I feel Interested a little bit
since I was expecting that Centaurs will win in this category. When the announcers officially
announce the winners of this category which is the other side, I always accept the defeats
because the defeats that leads to become a successful someday. And here we go to the
announcing of team who will win in the Intramural games. It is my most awaited part though I

know my team Centaurs will win. Few minutes later the Emcees start to announce says the
Second placer of the 2019 Intramural games is the Centaurs. Even though we are not the
Champions, we need to accept the fact that the Guardians is the 2019 VSU Intramurals overall
champions. We need move on and always accept the defeats because the defeats that lead us to
become a better team sooner. We are not better team this time but soon we will champion of the
VSU Intramurals once again. We are the champions of the heart as a team Centaurs. But most of
the Centaurs has several wins associated with 48 goals along with another silver and bronze.
That is okay for us and we should learn from mistakes because being mistake that lead us to
achieve main goal sooner.
