Work Assigned During the Tenure
I was assigned some basic works in the first week like arrangement of documents and managing files and folders. In the second
week of the internship, I was told to co-operate with junior Associates and to act in accordance with their needs. The firm is very
strict in its administrational hierarchy. They mostly used to give works like researching, Case briefing, case analysis, finding legal
validity of any particular document etc. I researched on various acts and statutes like – Protection of women from domestic
violence Act 2005, Consumers protection Act, 1986, Payment of Gratuity Act 1982 etc. Likewise, I drafted Written Arguments,
Complaint Petitions and Evidence on Affidavit on behalf of Insurance and Banking Companies. I learnt about the proceedings of
arbitration and drafting of loan recall notices. I Researched on and Drafted a writ Petition which has been recently filed in Patna
High Court and is accepted. I helped associates in drafting substitution Petition. Apparently, researched on various provisions and
aspect of law.
Roles and Responsibilities Assigned During The Internship
1. Arrangement of Documents, files and folders
In the first week, they seemed to be not much bothered about giving heavy tasks to the interns. I was usually told to manage
files and see the arrangements of letters and similar kinds of work.
2. Drafting
Second week onwards, they told me to draft written Arguments on the behalf of banks and Insurance companies. The Firm
Majorly deals with handling bank and Insurance cases. I also drafted Evidence on Affidavit and drafted a complaint petition
in a complaint case.
3. Writ Petition
I worked on a writ petition in a corruption case against a Home guard for payment of gratuity. Pallavi Ma’m gave me whole
and sole authority to research and draft the writ petition. The petition is recently filed The Patna High Court and is
successfully allowed.
4. Research Work
Research on various provisions, acts and statutes like – Protection of women from domestic violence Act 2005, Consumers
protection Act, 1986, Payment of Gratuity Act 1982 etc. They randomly used to give research works to interns whenever
needed. We were supposed to act in accordance with the daily works given. Likewise, researched on Consumer case,
Insurance policy terms and conditions and Domestic Violence case.
5. Documentation
Documentation would include anything advised like, arrangements of case file according to dates and delivery of letters and
distribution of case file etc.
Learning from the Internship
The internship improved my management skills as well as interaction at various levels with different people. I could know the
importance of team cooperation by working with my co-interns. The best lesson I get is, if you are an intern then never hope that
people will come and provide you with works, firms are very professional and only those who are professional in their attitude
will get the best. Everything I did was an experience how so lower level of work it was.
I learnt the importance of competition because many a times I saw my co-interns getting appreciation for the works done by me.
Apparently, I feel after this internship is to understand work ethics during internship and law majorly because in one way or the
other what’s meant to be studied can be studied anywhere but what’s meant to be experienced can only be experienced at a
desired place.
I did Case briefing, case analysis, finding legal validity of any particular document etc. Researching and collecting materials on
various acts and statutes like – Protection of women from domestic violence Act 2005, Consumers protection Act, 1986, Payment
of Gratuity Act 1982 etc. I drafted Written Arguments, Complaint Petitions and Evidence on Affidavit on behalf of Insurance and
Banking Companies. Learnt about the proceedings of arbitration and drafting of loan recall notices. Researched on and Drafted a
writ Petition which has been recently filed in Patna High Court and is accepted. I helped associates in drafting substitution
Petition. Apparently, researched on various provisions and aspect of law.
Overall Experience
The internship provided me a great experience to undergo with in future. This was my first internship under any law firm. It gave
me opportunity to attend and volunteer various programs and events on legal awareness and discussions on current legal issues in
India. It gave me practical experiences of work management in law firms. It was a first-hand experience of work ethics and
professional behavior. Right from handling pressures of clients to managing loads of cases at courts, the internship completed
watching it all. When we get to see things going in front of our eyes in the same way it was taught in the Law School, we really
understand the practical application of law which is nowhere written in the book. Likewise, it exposed me in the corporate field for
the first time which was really challenging and motivating. Whatever I Learnt in those 30 days, will always help me in my career.
I met with different Advocates and people who are doing well in their own life, so these little things creates network for a student
like me, this might help me in my professional career because as people say “Law is All about Networking”. Work ethics includes
guidance, co-operation, mentoring, motivation, competition etc, I feel that I learnt all these things in these 30 days. Unlike, every
positive aspects, internship is platform which let you know the reality about yourself, it directly puts us amongst the best where we
ourselves grow up and in case we fail, we learn. Therefore, I found this Internship satisfactory and motivating.
