The four UCs I will be applying to are: UC Irvine, UC Santa Cruz, UC Merced, UC Riverside.
The reasons why I chose these specific UCs is because I did my research and other UCs, like
UCLA, UC Davis, UC Berkeley and more would be hard to get into due to my GPA and my SAT
scores not being high enough. I chose to stay in California for personal reasons. All UCs of my
choice have a higher acceptance rate compared to UCLA and others. Now it may be hard to get
into any UCs due to my GPA and SAT, but I believe in myself, and my chances of actually
making it into one. All UCs that I am applying to have what I want to major in, which is Biology,
Biomedical Sciences. The four Cal State Universities I am applying to are: Cal State Long
Beach, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Dominguez Hills, and lastly Cal State Los Angeles.
Lastly for reassurance I will be applying to LACC. Private school applications open in the
beginning of 2017, so if I work hard and do everything that I have to do to improve my GPA, I
will be applying to Cal Lutheran and Mount St. Marys, and NYU.
I am planning to Major in Biology. I am very passionate about science and especially Biology. I
love learning about what I am passionate about and discovering new things about the subject. I
still don't know exactly what it is that I want to do when I grow up, but I know that I will have
many options available once I begin studying. I know that this is the major for me because it is
very important to me to work on what I am passionate about and be able to enjoy what I do. My
career options would be a Biology Teacher, Biomedical scientist, Forensic scientist,
Biomedical Scientist (life science or medical), all jobs that I would love to pursue, and
see myself doing.
My Qualities:
My top five qualities would be that I am a Passionate, Sociable, Enthusiastic person, I am a big
Motivator, and I enjoy Presenting/ Public Speaking. When I have a passions, I go for it. For
example, one of my passions is fashion. Fashion is my creative side and I express myself this
way. I enjoy reading, talking, watching anything and everything about it. I am also a very
sociable person. I love talking to people and I love making new friends. Socializing is important
to me especially in this generation because not many people interact face to face anymore,
people are more into talking through the media. Social media is helpful in many ways, but I feel
like it is important to socialize among people outside of social media. Recently in my Model UN
class we had Chinese students come and visit our school, being the person that I am, I
immediately got excited and volunteered as one of the tour guides, and got to be the leader of
the group. In this experience I got to socialize with students from a different country and that
was really special to me. I am also very enthusiastic. I like to bring a very fun vibe everywhere I
go. One of the places I got to share this was school. I was always trying to bring school spirit
and hype up the students because I knew how important it was for people to feel a part of
something. In my time at ASGL, I was able to plan events and make some happen, that was my
greatest joy a side from seeing everyone having fun and enjoying something I was a part of.
From that comes how I am a big motivator. I always knew how important it was to motivate
people. Some really need motivation to move forward, without motivation or a motivator it is
easy for some to give up, that is why I like to help and motivate people in my life. I remember in
middle school, the time where almost tween was going through something painful and difficult,
motivation was needed, so I decided to make a tear off flyer with positive quotes, and the
students got to tear off the quote that they desired. Now that senior year is here, the time of
stress with college applications, the time of rejections and acceptances, students need all the
motivation they can get. I know of so many people who are willing to give up when they are
almost there. Personally I have friends who are, so I give my time and talk to them, give advice,
and overall help them realize that we are almost done, and that we can do it, it will all be over
soon, we will soon be stress free, but we must keep going and go strong till the very end.(As
you can tell I am also a very cliche person.) Finally comes presenting and public speaking. I
enjoy presenting and debating, and that is why I joined Model UN. For the longest Ive been
wanting to join the class, but it was never available to fit in my schedule, and finally this year, I
was able to join. Public speaking isn't everyones forte, and I am not saying I am the best public
speaker, because I do have a few imperfections, but doesnt mean I dont enjoy it. I am excited
for what comes next in Model UN, because we have two UN Meetings at UCLA, and UC
Berkeley and I will be attending and speaking in both.
There is only one of me in the whole entire world, the possibilities of me being like anyone else
is impossible. I don't believe any student in ASGL is like me. I see myself as both a fun and
intelligent human being but I also recognize that I may not be the most fun nor the most
intelligent. Im the type of person you can find in a library but also in a sport. I don't like to limit
myself to anything. I can go from reading my favorite book to running a 100m at a track field. I
believe that I more than most students bring a lot to this school. Like I mentioned before in my
time in ASGL I have organized and participated in many school events because its what I love.
Doing thing like this is a part of me, I genuinely enjoy it, one of my favorites was the Pink for
October Challenge, a fundraiser where students will compete while raising awareness for a
good cause. Students would wear Pink on every Wednesday for the month of October. It was
nice seeing many people participate and seeing a Pink campus. Doing events like this sets me
apart because no one thought about it, and I was happy to bring the first annual Pink for
October Challenge, and I am glad to be bringing it back this year. Overall I do think I am capable
of doing many great things. I enjoy making the people at my school happy, regardless of me not
being the top of the class, I still see myself as someone with great potential, and I still see
myself as someone people can admire, because we all deserve it, whether we are honor
students or the average student.
My Struggles:
One of my biggest struggles was battling with depression. Acne is in most teenagers life, but
when it came to me, it wasn't just your average one zit, I got what my dermatologist called
rosacea. It was my sophomore year when it all started. Worst timing. It began with one pimple,
till my whole face was full of it. During this time I was bullied. I always felt like people were
staring, it got to the point where I would hide my face with my hair and walk with my head down.
This really sucked because I was not use to being sad and quiet, I was always loud and joyful,
and when this happened my happiness quickly ended. I was even bullied by my best friend.
She would continually bring it up. She would ask me why I would come to school, why didn't I
just pop it and that my face disgusted her. It broke me into pieces. My own best friend tore me
apart. I became depressed. It was hard to focus in school. I would cry myself to sleep almost
everyday, and I would even cry in school. It was hard showing up to school looking the way that
I did. I was the most insecure I had ever been. What made the depression worse was my
medication, but I had no choice since the medication would help the acne go away. It was a
very difficult time of my life, especially since it was sophomore year one of the most important
school years. I lost a friend, but luckily I had the support of my family, my doctor, and was
fortunate enough to have found new friends, who showed me what friendship really was.
My vision for the world is fulfilling my goals and making people happy. I want to be able to make
myself happy but also spread happiness. I will better myself in a positive way, because I believe
that I am still growing, and that I can bring good change. I believe that the world can't be happy
and peaceful without being happy yourself. Most people who share happiness, give advice
about happiness, or smile everyday, are those who aren't happy to begin with. That needs to
change. I envision that there will finally be equal rights, womens rights. Not just be a right on
paper, but an actual action, an actual thing people will be projecting, accepting, spreading, in the
world, that we will finally reach world peace. Do we really want the next generation to be just like
what we are today?
My philosophy:
My philosophy in life is to be happy and not care what people think of you. If I would have lived
this way earlier maybe I would have not struggled as much. If you live life always caring and
paying attention about what people think of you, you aren't living YOUR life, you're living the life
people want you to live. You will be a lot happier if you stop paying attention to pointless and
ignorant comments. In the end be the writer of your own book.
My hobbies:
My hobbies include reading, either books or magazines, arts and crafts, I enjoy working on
collages, and running. All keep me busy when I am trying to avoid social media, I get tired of
being on my phone, believe it or not, I do like to be more active. I ran an LA Marathon, for fun,
and got a medal.
Extra Curricular:
For extra curricular I took art for 2 years and Speech and Debate for 1 year. Currently in Model
UN.
Sports:
Ive been volunteering at the Alexandria House for 3yrs. I have done community work at my
church (4yrs), I even joined a walk-a-thon for my church. I have also worked on beautification
for the school and care packages.
Leadership Roles:
SAT/ACT Scores:
My last SAT score was overall 890. on Oct. 1st I received a 980, 550 Reading and Writing, 430
for Math
A life well lived is not always life with money and luxuries, but beyond that. A life well lived is a
happy life. A life where you achieved all your goals, a life where you got to live and enjoy
everything you wanted to. A life well lived is being able to do everything on your bucket list. A life
well lived is being able to put others before you and still make yourself happy. A life well lived is
a life where you are able to say I did this or I got to do this for the world before I die.
Success, Joy, and Happiness:
I define success by doing what makes you happy. Like working in the job you want and being
able to enjoy it. Ive mentioned happiness in almost every question, seems to be the answer to
everything, because it is. Were all alive, we are all here,so why spend it being miserable and
being at war 24/7? Why not be happy. ( I guess it's harder than it seems, but not impossible.)
P.S
My UC prompts are in my notebook so I can't attach it on here, but I will be happy to show it to
you in person.
