This is because your ideas need to meet the interests of others involved and need to have mutual

advantages. One mistake or bad decision made by single individual affects everyone else in the group.

Sacrificing personal aims.

Incompetency in one’s life may be encouraged.

1. Although being in individualist culture is great because they are prioritizing their individual rights and
being self-independent and achieve their goals by themselves without other’s help. However, being
individualist tend to being selfish and not thinking about others. For example, the individualist person is
an employee or worker he prefers looking after for himself and not the whole team, he makes decision
by himself without thinking about the others. Being an individualist may affect the person’s behavior.

Being collectivist is also great because they are prioritizing the betterment of each one by cooperating
with each other to achieve their aims and through hard times, they rather to fight it out as a group.
However, being collectivist, they need to meet the interests and ideas of others. For example, the
collectivist person is an employee. He wants to have teamwork with his co-worker but in hard times he
is involved in the group and will suffer by the mistake or bad decision made by the person in the group.
Also, the co-worker who do not work hard as he does, might get similar pay as him.

2. Understanding cultural diversity is important in understanding the self because cultural diversity
provides ideas and affects the mindset of a person that can be beneficial in knowing ourselves, interests
and lifestyle that can help us understand ourselves. Learning from cultural diversity help and thought us
in having our perspectives.
