STORY This skit is about a real family situation, where the elder daughter of the family is very studious

and the younger sibling is worried only about her looks. The father and mother don t get along very well and have fights very often. The younger daughter is in VIII and did not do well in her VII standard exams. The elder daughter is in XI and the X board exam results have come out. The elder daughter has topped the board exam and is going to tell her family about it. In this skit, the reaction of the parents is demonstrated on hearing the news of their daughter topping the board exams. They then advice their younger daughter to work harder and do well, taking her sister as an example. CHARACTERS y y y y SKIT SCENE 1 [Munni and Shakuntala returning home from school] Munni: My hairstyles much better than yours. Shakuntala: So what? My marks are much better than yours. Munni: I have more clothes than you. Shakuntala: Looking at your weight, I think you d need a lot of clothes to patch up and make a single dress for yourself. Munni: Ha! Ha! Very funny! Looking at you, I think you need to visit the mall more often. Shakuntala: Looking at you, I think you need to visit the gym more often. (Munni opens her mouth but Shakuntala points at the door of the house and urges her to listen) Shubhrika Gupta: Shakuntala Singh, the topper of the board exam. Sara Thaju Nisha: Munni Singh, the younger daughter of the Singh family. Nikita Prabhu: Rocket Singh, the father of the family. Pavitra Venkat: Sheila Singh, the mother of the family.

SCENE 2 [The room of the Singh family, Sheila and Rocket are fighting like cats and dogs] Rocket: Sheila! Is the lunch ready? Sheila: Just 5 minutes, Rocketji Rocket: Lazy Woman! Sheila: I heard that Rocket! Rocket: I think you forgot something. Something called as JI at the end of my name. Sheila: I would prefer to give respect to a biscuit and call it PARLE-G but I would not respect you, you CRAZY MAN!!

(Munni and Shakuntala enter the house and listen to their parents conversation) Rocket: How dare you disrespect me? I am your husband. I work hard in the office so that you people can live happily. Sheila: Office work is nothing compared to the hard work I do to handle these TRIBAL CHILDREN!!! (Shakuntala looks offended) Shakuntala: Mom! I think you made a mistake. You re sure right about the tribal part, but it should be singular coz only Munni is tribal. After all she has gone on Dad (Sheila and Shakuntala giggle) Rocket: I heard that! How dare you speak about me like that?? From now onwards no pocket money and give me your mobile. Shakuntala: First, you do not give me any pocket money. Second, my mobile s gone for repair after your beloved daughter broke it. (Rocket is embarrassed as he has made a mistake) Munni: I didn t break it! Uhm er my right hand broke it!!! Shakuntala: Oh well then! Get rid of it!!! Sheila: Children! Stop fighting! You have come home now! Go freshen up Munni and Shakuntala exit. (Rocket picks up a newspaper and reads it) Munni and Shakuntala come back after freshening up. Munni: Hey Dad! Why are you always stuck up with the newspaper? And look at your shirt Must be intact from the 70 s!! Rocket: It is better to be stuck up with the newspaper than your MomShakuntala: How rude! Rocket (Ignoring Shakuntala): And this shirt was a gift from your er mother s . uhm er sister. What else can you expect from her? Sheila: Ahem Rocket I don t have a sister. I m a single child to my parents. Find some other reason. Shakuntala: Stop fighting Mom and Dad! Munni: Dad you know my day at school was very good By the way Shakuntala s board exam result should have come by now (Shakuntala acts as if she s very sad)

Rocket: What about the result?? Sheila: I prayed to all gods and goddesses so that you at least pass Rocket: What happened?? You failed? If you did, how will I show my face outside?? Oh my Munni: Lucky people Won t get to see HIM Let the poor people survive. Sheila: Exactly! Shakuntala: Hello people! Board exam topper is sitting right here and you are worried about your stupid face uhm I mean stupid fight. Rocket: After all she s my daughter She ll obviously top all the exams. I knew that she would be the topper. Sheila: Never mind, my child You have to learn to take insults in your life. Shakuntala: I understand Mom By the way Dad weren t you asking me whether I failed or not?! Rocket: I thought you were under Munni s influence. Let by-gone s be by-gone s Shakuntala: Me? Under her influence!? No ways Well Dad that was just 5 minutes ago. Munni: Thank you for supporting me Dad Sheila: Oh I am so glad that my daughter topped the X board exam. I will throw a big party for her Munni: Oh Mom Why are you overreacting? She just topped the exam. No Big Deal!! Shakuntala: For you big deal is just passing Rocket: I don t think you ll even pass Seventh class. Sheila: Learn something from your sister. Try becoming like her. Munni: What? Become like her?! You mean wearing unfashionable clothes, watching Discovery Channel instead of MTV?? Studying all the time instead of hanging out with friends?? No ways! Shakuntala: Doing all that is better than failing or being called BEAUTY without BRAINS !! Munni: Did you call me a beauty? That s so sweet of you Shakuntala: Oh maybe you didn t listen I also called you brainless! Sheila & Rocket: Stop fighting children! Sheila: You better learn something from Shakuntala She has topped X board so she ll get admission in a really good college. Munni: But Mom, I ll get admission in a really good beauty college. (Shakuntala, Sheila and Rocket stare at her)

Rocket: You should be inspired by your sister. Just like her you should work hard and top the examination of your class rather than wasting your time on stupid things Munni: And off he goes like a rocket Sheila & Shakuntala: Ha! Ha! Ha! Sheila: You should work hard from now on. Give me your mobile first. No texting, no partying and no Facebook!!! Munni (sarcastically to Shakuntala): Thanks for ruining my life. Shakuntala: Just listen to Mom and Dad. You ll have a good future although you may feel bad about it now. You should not always do what you want but what is good for you. Rocket: You should sacrifice something in order to gain something. I am really proud of you Shakuntala. You have done really great. I am so happy for you. Sheila: Even I am so glad. You have raised my pride in public. I will tell everyone about it My daughter topped the X board exam!!! Munni: Please OK Mom, Dad I promise you that from now on I will work hard and get really good marks in 7th class. Shakuntala: Good for you. But it s always easier said than done. Anyway my best wishes are with you. Rocket: Very good. So it s good that you have realised that hard work is the key to success. Sheila: Now I m sure when you reach class X you will also be a topper. In future I m sure you both will make us proud. Shakuntala: Oh Mom, thank you so much Munni: OK, gotta go now! My favourite show D3 is on Channel [V] right now! Shakuntala: What!! You re hopeless Rocket & Sheila: God! This girl will never change. Rocket: By the way, is the lunch ready? Sheila: Oh no! I forgot all about that. Rocket: Really lazy woman. Sheila: Why don t you do it yourself then? You mentally retarded man! Shakuntala: God! Even you both will never change. THE END
