Santa Cruzans gather for vigil hours after Minnesota woman killed by ICE

Vigil-goers lit candles and stood on the corner Ocean and Water streets in Santa Cruz for about 30 minutes Wednesday night singing songs and chanting the name of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Macklin Good who was shot and killed in Minnesota by an ICE agent earlier that day.

Emergency overnight shelter opening in Santa Cruz as frigid temperatures arrive

A slice of the bluff along West Cliff Drive across from Getchell Street near Natural Bridges State Beach sits in the surf below the cliffs. It fell into the sea during a recent massive tidal surge as a winter storm pounded the coastline. No injuries were reported, but because the erosion occurred only feet from a paved pathway frequented by local bicyclists and joggers, the city set up an orange barricade and caution tape to prevent curious onlookers from getting too close to the unstable area.
