Former President Donald Trump will reportedly abandon attendance at his New York fraud trial to return to his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida.

Sources told Marc Caputo and Adam Klasfeld of The Messenger on Wednesday that Trump will soon depart for Florida despite telling New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron he would attend the trial all week.

The sources said they believed Trump's trip to New York had been a success because he was able to amplify claims that the trial was unfair.

"Mar-a-Lago. No fraud. And it's a Democrat hit job," one Trump adviser opined to the outlet.

Attorneys have reportedly given up on trying to control the former president and instead will "let Trump be Trump," the report said.

On Tuesday, Engoron slapped Trump with a limited gag order after he targeted the court clerk on social media.
