Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.

The Spurs overcame the loss of their top three scorers on Tuesday to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 110-104 for their first NBA Cup victory. Tonight, Victor Wembanyama, Devin Vasell and Jeremy Sochan will still be missing from the lineup, but they might also be missing Zach Collins, who is dealing with knee soreness, and Chris Paul who is questionable after jamming his thumb in the big win over OKC. The Spurs will have depend on Charles Bassey, who is coming off his best game as a pro on Tuesday night as he excelled on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court against the height-challenged Thunder, whose bigs are missing some time due to injury.

The Spurs are 1-1 against the Jazz so far this year, winning on the road and losing at home. They will play Utah again next Tuesday for their final meeting between the two teams this season in an NBA Cup game as both teams try to make some waves in the early season tournament. With so many players missing the game for the Spurs, this is another great opportunity for Stephon Castle to continue his impressive rookie season. He’s made mistakes, but he’s also made some impressive plays like his last minute block of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander that iced Tuesday’s win. Expect him to have another big outing tonight, as he always seems to rise to the occasion.
