MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz held a short meet-and-greet from the airport tarmac Monday morning before boarding a plane and departing for a final day of campaigning.
Walz, joined by first lady Gwen Walz and daughter Hope Walz, gave hugs and took selfies with the crowd of about 150 people just after 9:20 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4.

The sendoff from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on Monday marks Walz's last time in the state before Tuesday's general election. Walz is running for vice president alongside Democratic presidential candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris.
As Walz and his family boarded the Harris-Walz campaign plane, he waved goodbye while some of his signature campaign songs, like John Mellencamp’s “Small Town,” played in the background.
Minnesota DFL figures Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, Sens. Tina Smith and Amy Klobuchar, Attorney General Keith Ellison and Rep. Betty McCollum were also on site to see Walz off.
Sherri Blasing, a former neighbor of Walz and current principal at Mankato West High School, where Walz taught, told Forum News Service that watching Walz campaign has been uplifting.
“To think our next-door neighbor, a teacher that we know very well, is being elevated to this national stage, and I think it gives us a lot of hope for the future,” she said.
Blasing said it’s been surreal to watch him and that she wants people to know how authentic he is.
“What you see is really what you get,” she said. “He’s the same Tim running for VP that we saw in the backyard at our Fourth of July parties all those years.”

Walz didn’t make any statement or take questions during the meet-and-greet, but told the crowd he was “feeling great” while holding two thumbs up.
Walz is set to campaign in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania on Monday and will spend election night at Howard University in Washington, D.C., with Harris.
