Grace Glover has deep pride for the uniqueness embodied by her local roots and its residents. “I am a diehard believer in the creativity and talent of Rochester,” she says.
The Med City native works as a marriage and family therapist at Rochester Therapy Center. Her hobbies involve a mashup of all things art, music, books and nature. Grace’s fashion sense is simple but intentional.

Simplest way to describe your style?
Flea market eclectic. I dress for fun.
What do you notice about others reactions to your style?
Vintage and playful pieces seem to bring a lot of joy to people.
How does your role as a therapist impact your attire?
Authenticity is essential in therapy. Being myself gives clients permission to be authentic as well.

Name an accessory you are particularly fond of.
My partner gave me a horse purse as a gift. Out of many purses, it's my favorite.
Any tattoos to speak of?
‘Be generous with love’ was my grandfather's last advice before he passed. My mom, brother, and I all have a tattoo of it.
Describe your standard approach for getting dressed.
Fashion is how I play. I love to start the day with creativity and joie de vivre.
Anything unconventional as it pertains to your apparel?

My wardrobe is mostly thrifted, which leads to lots of quirky finds. I also like things to feel a little imperfect. It keeps life interesting.
Best local purchase you’ve ever made?
Band T-shirts for my friends' bands. Support local musicians!
Any coveted hand-me-downs?
A lot of my jewelry comes from my grandmother, including her class ring from 1946. I wear it every day.
Repeat purchases?
Coffee. Not technically an accessory, but I'm not going anywhere without it.

How does hair and makeup play a role in your aesthetic?
I am pretty low maintenance in that regard.
Seasonal staples?
Linen in summer and cashmere in winter. I try to stick to natural fibers that will last.
Any nod to specific patterns, textures or fabrics?
Leopard print. As far as I'm concerned, it's a neutral. It goes with everything.
Thoughts on editing and parting with your closet’s contents?

As a thrifter, I am pretty good at letting go of items and sending them onto new owners who will wear them and enjoy them. Until it comes to my vintage coats.

What is your take on the local fashion scene?
Rochester has some very stylish citizens, especially the people following their hearts rather than trends. They let their clothing speak to their passions.
Whose style do you admire and why?
Maggie Panetta (local artist, owner of Treedome and Pops Art Theater) has had an awesome sense of style since we were kids. You can see her love of art and music in her clothes and hair.

Parting thoughts?
Stewardship is really important to me. It's the notion that we are temporary keepers of our planet, our community, and even our clothing. That means taking care of what I already have and shopping in an environmentally-conscious way.
