What are the Specialty areas?

Each course falls into at least 1 of 3 Specialty areas: Interaction Design, Research, and Management. When you pass at least 5 courses in a Specialty area, your achievement appears on your UX Certification.

How long does it take to get UX Certified?

UX Certification requires over 30 hours of training, in addition to the time required to study for and pass exams. You can achieve UX Certification by attending 1 of our virtual training weeks or by taking multiple courses over time. A UX Master Certification requires over 100 hours of training, in addition to the study-time to take and pass exams. Most people complete this certification over 2+ years.

Is there a deadline for completing UX Certification or UX Master Certification?

No. There is no deadline for completing all courses and exams for each type of UX Certification. However, each exam must be taken within 35 days of the course you attend. We keep track of your completed courses and exams in your NN/g account.

Do the UX Certification courses count towards the UX Master Certification?

Yes! After completing a UX Certification, you need to take 10 more courses and pass the corresponding exams to obtain the 15 courses required for a UX Master Certification.

Does UX Certification expire?

No. Our courses are designed to give you a solid, lasting UX foundation and education. Once you achieve UX Certification, it does not expire. We reissue an updated certification when you take additional courses and pass the exams.

Is NN/g’s UX Certification accredited?

NN/g’s UX Certification is not accredited. It has been developed and administered by Nielsen Norman Group since 2014. We continuously improve our courses and exams to ensure they accurately assess the knowledge gained in our training. Over 500 companies have sought our training and UX Certification for their employees. To date, over 13,000 professionals have obtained a UX Certification from NN/g.

Do I get a paper certificate in the mail?

You will receive a digital certificate to commemorate your UX Certification that is signed by Jakob Nielsen. It lists the courses you attended and the date you earned the UX Certification. Each digital certificate lists your certification ID, which can be used to verify your status using our list of UX certified people. Example UX Certificate Example UX Master Certificate
