A mom shared the hilarious reaction from her teenage daughter when she decided to deck out their house in 90s-style Christmas decorations.
Dawn Hayward, from the U.K., decided to go old-school with her 2024 festive decorations, and her Gen Z daughter called them "extra."
"Me and my husband was at my mum's clearing out her loft, and we came across a bag full of Christmas ceiling decorations and the small tree I remember having as a child," Hayward told Newsweek. "We then started talking about how our Christmas decorations were everywhere in the 90s and all over the celling and how magical it felt walking in from school and the house was decorated."

Dawn and her husband then decided to use the decorations they found and order more ones online, such as tinsel and cotton baubles, so that they could show their kids how they used to do Christmas when they were growing up.
Dawn shared a clip of her teenage daughter, Lillie, arriving home from school to see the decorations and her reaction was priceless. As Dawn records, Lillie can be heard asking, "what have you done?"
"Is this what you used to do?" the daughter says, before calling the decorations "so extra."
The clip went viral, receiving thousands of comments and more than 4.8 million views. It shows Lillie walking around the living room observing the decorations, such as the shiny bunting on the ceiling and strings of tinsel on the small tree, as well as flashing lights around the room and an angel made out of a toilet roll holder.
"These days, we don't see these decorations much," Dawn told Newsweek.

Decorating for Christmas is a tradition that remains popular in modern times, even if the style of decorations has changed. The global market for Christmas decorations was worth over $7 billion in 2023, according to Statista.
Many TikTok users loved Dawn's video and shared their thoughts in the comments section.
