Donate in memory or leave a gift in your will
You might choose to remember a loved one by making a donation to mySociety in their memory. When you give in memory of someone, you both help to create a fairer society for years to come.
Dick Fowler donated in memory of a lifelong campaigner in 2024 to continue their legacy.
Increasingly people are choosing to leave a gift to charity in their will, as a significant way to leave a legacy for future generations. Leaving a gift in your will doesn’t need to be complicated – to do so, or to donate in memory please contact our Head of Fundraising on [email protected] to discuss a personalised tribute.
What’s Gift Aid?
If you pay tax in the UK, please select the Gift Aid option – it means that we can reclaim the tax you have paid on your donations (currently 25p for each £1 you give), and it doesn’t cost you a penny extra.
For us to qualify, you must pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the tax that we’ll reclaim on your donations. More information about Gift Aid from HMRC.
The difference we make:
- Since we started in 2003, we’ve given millions of people an easy route into democracy.
- Our services help to hold institutions accountable. For example, citizens used WhatDoTheyKnow to uncover documents about the Post Office Horizon Scandal.
- 20+ countries are now using our free Alaveteli platform to enable their citizens to access data. In some countries this information is a matter of life and death: eg in Ukraine, vital information about bomb shelter repairs was made public.
- A GovLab report estimated that our work has saved the UK charity sector £70 million a year in time on research and campaigns.
