Edgar F. Navarrete is an Associate with Mullen Coughlin, practicing in its Privacy Litigation practice area. With over five (5) years of litigation defense experience, Edgar focuses his practice on representing organizations in single-plaintiff, class action and B2B disputes related to, among other areas, data privacy and security incidents; violations of state and federal consumer protection statutes and other data privacy laws and regulations; breach of contract; and Tech E&O matters.
When an organization is faced with potential privacy litigation, Edgar works closely with the organization to identify and understand pertinent legal issues alleged against the organization. Understanding that each client is unique in their legal needs, and based on relevant facts at-hand, Edgar is able to effectively communicate and provide viable defense options to be used prior to, or at, arbitration, mediation or trial. These solutions, as constructed with his clients, aim to protect their reputation, financial bottom line and continued operationality.
Edgar also responds to state, federal and industry regulatory agency investigations into alleged violations of data privacy and information security regulations.
Prior to joining Mullen Coughlin, Edgar was a Senior Associate at a national, full-service law firm. There, he represented organizations in litigation related to construction defect, products liability, transportation and insurance coverage.
As a J.D. student at Loyola Law School, he was a “Staff Editor” for Loyola Law’s International and Comparative Law Review. He also gained valuable education in cybersecurity and data privacy, with courses in digital media law; cyber and intellectual property law; cybersecurity and regulatory compliance; and incident response/cyber forensics. Finally, while in law school, he served as Co-President of Loyola’s Latino law student organization, La Raza de Loyola.
Edgar is fluent in Spanish.
